Leng Yaozhu is a prominent member of the Leng Family within the Spirit Pagoda. Her generation produced no descendants, while the collateral branches lacked an outstanding heir; this left the family without a clear successor in the organization. She saw Gula and Gu Yue as the talents capable of inheriting and strengthening her family’s position. 145

In the past, she developed feelings for Yun Ming, a comrade from the Blood God Army. Yun Ming respected her but could not return those feelings because his love was for Ya Li. The resulting misunderstanding became central to the estrangement between Yaozhu and her younger sister, Leng Yulai. 290 293
