Across the All Heavens and Myriad Worlds, every sentient being bore three souls and seven spirits.
The seven spirits were Tianchong, Linghui, Qi, Li, Zhongshu, Jing, and Ying; they were also called Shigou, Fushi, Queyin, Tunzei, Feidu, Chuhui, and Choufei. They embodied the Seven Emotions of sentient beings: joy, anger, sorrow, fear, resentment, grief, and worry.
These seven spirits always remained within the body, but the three souls were different.
The three souls were called Taiguang, Shuangling, and Youjing; they were also called Heaven, Earth, and Fate, manifestations of essence, qi, and spirit.
Among the sentient beings of the All Heavens and Myriad Worlds, those below the Pure Yang Realm had only their Fate Soul within their bodies. Their Heaven Soul and Earth Soul wandered outside, between heaven and earth. As long as the Fate Soul remained, a person lived and governed their own body. Without it, the seven spirits fell into panic, the six senses had no master, and the person was controlled by others in all things.
Beings in the Pure Yang Realm had stepped outside the Three Realms and beyond the Five Elements because they had drawn their Heaven Soul and Earth Soul back into place and united them with their Fate Soul. Together, they became the essence of Pure Yang, also called the Pure Yang Fate Soul, equal in weight to the Pure Yang Dao Fruit.
The Dao Fruit housed the True Spirit, which dwelled long between heaven and earth. The Fate Soul gave rise to the self, letting the heart decide all things.
Profound Lord Zizai intended to take Flame Dragon's Pure Yang Fate Soul, leaving him only his Pure Yang Dao Fruit and True Spirit.
