Cultivation Requirements

Pure Yang is attained after completing the Upper Three Realms: overcoming the Three Disasters at Void Refinement, enduring the Five Difficulties at Body Integration, and, at Mahayana, attracting the Heavenly Soul and Earthly Soul. A cultivator whose Essence, Qi, and Spirit are complete may then achieve the Pure Yang Dao Fruit. 358 409

The Three Flowers must gather at the Crown and the Five Qi must return to the Origin before the cultivator unites the Heavenly Soul and Earthly Soul with the Life Soul and True Spirit. Great Vehicle is the final realm beneath Pure Yang and represents the dangerous threshold at which a cultivator may advance into Pure Yang or remain unable to progress. 706 823

Pure Yang may also be understood as the completion of the transformation from the acquired to the innate. An individual who achieves a flawless innate foundation may form a flawless Pure Yang Dao Fruit; Pure Yang beings are therefore regarded as true innate sacred beings. 1251

In the Mountain and Sea Realm, the same achievement is called the Supreme Unity Golden Immortal or Primordial Unity Golden Immortal. Its core process is described as gathering the True Spirit, True Nature, and True Destiny; guiding the Yin and turbid Earth Soul; connecting the clear and Yang Heavenly Soul; and reversing Yin to Yang. 687 690 705

Power Progression

Realms

Pure Yang cultivation is divided according to comprehension and control of the Great Dao rather than age or accumulated magic power. 358 409

The three stages are also rendered as Dao-Entering, Dao-Holding or Dao-Wielding, and Dao-Mastering. A Dao-Entering Pure Yang has only begun to climb the mountain of the Great Dao, a Dao-Holding Pure Yang has reached its middle slopes and commands one Dao, while a Dao-Mastering Pure Yang stands at the summit as a True Yang. 410

Characteristics

• Pure Yang beings are described as leaping beyond the Three Realms and not being within the Five Elements. 358
• They possess immeasurable lifespans, can traverse the Chaos Void, and are not ordinarily destroyed by the collapse of a world. 358 634
• Their power derives from leveraging the Great Dao and controlling laws; at sufficient strength, they can re-refine Earth, Water, Wind, and Fire or annihilate living beings with a gesture. 452
• At the realm, myriad laws may follow a cultivator’s will; practical application matters more than ornate techniques. With one thought, ten thousand laws can arise, and with one word, all things can be born. 410
• A Pure Yang’s aura alone can suppress cultivators below its realm, including Mahayana beings. 721 1096
• Pure Yang cultivators bear manifestations associated with their attainment, including a Dao Fruit, Merit Golden Wheel, and Destiny Purple Wheel. 634 1097
• A Pure Yang True Spirit is clear, luminous, flawless, and without leakage. So long as it remains intact, the cultivator can endure indefinitely; even if the True Spirit is damaged, reincarnation remains possible. 359
• A Pure Yang’s Dao Fruit and True Spirit are branded into the Great Dao, making the individual unique across the myriad worlds rather than divided into separate weak and strong selves across past and present. 823

Limitations

• Pure Yang is not absolute immortality. Pure Yang cultivators can die when entangled in prolonged spell duels over Daoist lineages or the Great Dao. 358
• Dao Lord Yang Ji’s fall on the River of Time caused blood rain across the Myriad Worlds and made the Great Dao grieve, demonstrating that even Dao Holding Pure Yangs may be slain. 721
• Hunxuan Dao Lord likewise fell in a Great Dao struggle against Dejing, showing that a Pure Yang’s Dao Fruit and lineage can be defeated through direct contests over the Great Dao. 1185
• The Three Realms’ merger strengthened Heaven-and-Earth restrictions. Entering the Dao Pure Yangs found their connection to the Great Dao clearer but more difficult to mobilize, while Dao Holding cultivators retained greater freedom. 452 453
• Within the rebuilt Three Realms, only Dao-Mastering Pure Yangs could act without fear of the strengthened world restrictions and run rampant without the permission of the higher order. 452
• Pure Yang power cannot be freely displayed inside a Middle Thousand World. Such a world cannot bear a full Pure Yang manifestation and may be damaged or collapse; a Pure Yang must instead act indirectly or sever their realm and restrict their power to the Great Vehicle level. 1351
• Advancement depends on comprehension of the Great Dao’s ultimate principles; some Pure Yangs remain stagnant for tens of thousands of years. 358
• Great Vehicle cultivation does not guarantee a path to Pure Yang. Some Great Vehicle cultivators have already lost the qualifications to prove the Dao, while Integration cultivators with hope of attaining Pure Yang may be treated as stronger prospects. 706 729
• Pure Yang Dao Seeds may assist a cultivator’s ascent, but excessive reliance can contaminate their future cultivation and jeopardize their identity at breakthrough. 1093
• Absorbing Pure Yang Qi can restore or empower a cultivator, but may permanently prevent that individual from attaining Pure Yang themselves. 1046
• Dao-Mastering Pure Yangs may still be unable to transcend beyond True Yang. The Heavenly Investiture List and similar methods seek to gather the fortune of multiple worlds in the hope of advancing beyond that pinnacle. 874

Pure Yang Supreme Treasures

Pure Yang Supreme Treasures protect a Pure Yang cultivator’s Dao and serve as weapons of killing. 357

• Heavenly Radiance True Yang Ruler / Heavenly Radiant Zhengyang Ruler — Dao Lord Yue Heng’s treasure. After Yue Heng attained Pure Yang, the ruler ascended into a Pure Yang Supreme Treasure; a single strike can collapse ordinary worlds and effortlessly shatter landmasses in great worlds. 357 1100
• Three Profound Jade Ruyi — Miao Yan Dao Lord’s Supreme Treasure; combined with the Heavenly Radiance True Yang Ruler, it shattered the Golden Palace Heavenly Emperor’s Sword of Heavenly Dao. 409 410
• Heavenly Dao Sword — The Golden Palace Heavenly Emperor’s sword and a symbol of Panfeng World’s will of Heaven. 409 410
• Star River Exquisite Umbrella — Dao Lord Yang Ji’s Pure Yang Supreme Treasure, inlaid with Three Yangs, Seven Moons, and Three Thousand Stars. 721
• Brilliant Sun World Burning Mirror and World-Suppressing Golden Seal — Dao Lord Feiyang’s paired treasures, also called the Luminous World-Burning Mirror and World-Pacifying Golden Venerable Seal. As a Dao Holding cultivator, he can fuse them to release vastly greater power. 1112
• Qiankun One-Qi Seal — Gan Tian Dao Lord’s Pure Yang treasure, used against the Upper Three Realms immortals of the Tianhe Dao Sect. 1230

• Nine-Piercing Ganlight Whip, Star-River Shift-Dipper Chain, Golden Wondrous Jade Horsetail Whisk, and Eight-Scenery Glazed Lamp — Pure Yang treasures used by the Daoist Lords of the Eastern Heaven Daoist Sect and their allies. They can be awakened by the power of their respective lineages and combined into the Yuzhen Taiyi Heaven. 1126
• Ziwei Jade Tablet — A damaged Pure Yang magic treasure offered to Jiang Sheng by Fuyun Immortal Monarch. 1351
• Liusui Sword Sheath — The remnant sheath of the Great Dao sword Liusui, once wielded by Dao Lord Taixuan Hengji. It is one of the surviving relics of a fallen Pure Yang lineage. 1381

Pure Yang Qi

Pure Yang Qi is born when a cultivator who has gathered the Three Flowers at the Crown and Five Qi at the Origin combines the Heavenly and Earthly Souls to enter Pure Yang. It contains the principles of myriad Divine Abilities and Great Daos. 759

• It is neither categorized as innate nor acquired, chaos nor primordial. 759
• It may repair severe injuries and damaged Three Flowers and Five Qi. 1047
• Its use carries a cost: recipients may lose the possibility of independently reaching Pure Yang. 1046
• It is the result of a Pure Yang cultivator’s complete union of Essence, Qi, Spirit, True Spirit, and the souls of Heaven and Earth, making even a single flask an extraordinarily valuable resource. 759

• Orthodox Daoist inheritances are commonly identified by cultivation methods that directly point toward the Pure Yang Heavenly Immortal Great Dao, though not every method leading to Pure Yang is orthodox. 553
• A compatible cultivation method that directly points to Pure Yang is considered especially valuable because it permits a cultivator to walk a Dao uniquely suited to them. 695
• Buddhism and the Divine Path possess their own Pure Yang attainments, including Buddhist Pure Yang fruits and Divine Path True Yangs, rather than Pure Yang being exclusive to the Mystic Gate’s Heavenly Immortal Dao. 361 409
