The Three Realms were called the Three Realms not merely for Shanhe World, Panfeng World, and Hengsha Three Realms, but also for the realms of heaven, earth, and humanity.
The heavenly realm stood above the Star Sea, arrayed across the Nine Heavens Realm; the human realm lay at the heart of the Three Realms, divided into five continents and the Four Seas; the earthly realm hid beneath heaven and humanity, the domain of the Netherworld.
The Netherworld of the Three Realms was now divided into three domains. The east belonged to the Daoist Tradition and the west to the Buddhist Sect, each of which had established its own Pure Land. The center belonged to the Heavenly Court, guarded by two Pure Yang divine emperors.
Compared with the Heavenly Court's Netherworld, which occupied three-fifths of the whole and was guarded by two Pure Yang divine emperors, both the eastern Underworld and the western Pure Land lacked a measure of foundation.
The Western Buddhist Sect at least had Venerables and Vajras dedicated to overseeing hell. The Eastern Heaven Daoist Sect, however, could not find suitable people at such short notice. In the end, its three constituent sects could only have their True Lords send down dharma-body avatars to hold the Netherworld. At least they occupied the east and maintained the three-way balance.
Now, that imbalance among the three powers of the Netherworld was about to be overturned.
