Background / History

Meng Hao's parents disappeared when he was seven years old. Their stories of the Eastern Great Tang left him determined to someday travel east and seek them out 1201.

He entered Kaoshan Sect as a servant alongside Li Yu and Li Fugui. Initially attracted to cultivation as a route out of mortal life—and to the potential value of sect resources—he quickly recognized Li Yu as a kindred spirit in both cunning and ambition 1174. With Li Yu explaining the unfamiliar terminology of the Qi Gathering Scroll, Meng Hao reached Qi Condensation in half a month rather than taking the half-year originally required to decipher the method alone 1175.

Following Kaoshan Sect's collapse, Kaoshan Ancestor forced Meng Hao to lure higher-realm cultivators into an underground cave mansion under threat of a restriction. Li Yu subsequently gave him the Seal Demon Ancient Jade and a Perfect Foundation Establishment method, making Meng Hao the key to opening the Seal Demon inheritance 1197. At the North Sea inheritance site, he received the Ancient and Modern Restriction and True and False Restriction, becoming the ninth-generation Seal Demon 1201.

Meng Hao later entered Purple Cloud Sect under the identity Fang Mu to study alchemy. He became a renowned Pill Master known as Master Dan Ding, formally inherited Master Dan Gui's alchemical legacy, and gained the Dan Dong Undying Fire, Dao of Alchemy Regeneration Art, and Purple Cloud Pill Scripture 1247 1253. After killing Ji Hongdong for an immortal Qi inheritance, he abandoned the Fang Mu identity to prevent the Ji Family from implicating Purple Cloud Sect 1253 1254.

Personality

Meng Hao is a scholarly yet intensely material-minded cultivator. His first reactions to storage bags, Magic Artifacts, and spirit stones are repeatedly framed through their monetary value; after discovering top-grade spirit stones among his spoils, he realizes he has acquired wealth beyond Kaoshan Sect's entire fortune 1176 1186.

He is clever, adaptable, and readily embraces deception when it serves survival or profit. His partnership with Li Yu thrives because both enjoy turning hostile greed against its owners, from misleading Shangguan Xiu to selling fraudulent “supreme treasures” to Nascent Soul cultivators 1202 1204. Despite this, he is not casually cruel: he hesitates to seriously harm Chu Yuyan, protects a Cold Snow Tribe girl during a siege, and mourns Wang Youcai's death 1213 1272 1183.

Meng Hao remains stubborn when pressed by overwhelming power. He refuses to yield to Wang Tengfei, kills Ji Hongdong despite the Ji Family's status, and willingly risks himself against multiple Golden Core Dao Children to create the battle intent needed for his own breakthrough 1191 1253 1251.
