Background / History

Divided Source of Chi Yu

Gu Xingzhi was created as a Divided Source of Chi Yu and sent through World Barriers into Mi Hengtian, a Realm Domain governed by Fortune and Luck. He was born as the son of Chen Dynasty Minister of War Gu Keshuang. Until age nineteen, he was arrogant, incompetent, and dissolute; a deliberately arranged awakening of memories transformed him into a courteous and ambitious young man who placed first in both the civil and military examinations. 1219

His prior reputation allowed Gu Keshuang's political rivals to frame both father and son for examination fraud. Gu Xingzhi was imprisoned and tortured, but escaped, evacuated the Gu Family through its ancestral secret passage, infiltrated the palace in disguise, and resolved to overthrow the corrupt Chen Dynasty. 1219

Changing Fate and Taking Control

Gu Xingzhi began using his Authority to interfere with predetermined lives. He revealed Chu Junling's fate, restarted her life, helped her discover her hidden Spirit talent, and later merged her past and future selves to put her on the path toward Transcendence. 1228 1230

He similarly approached Lin Cang, a Great Luck holder whose life had been shaped by misfortune, and altered the conditions of his birth. Gu Xingzhi later became Lin Cang's father and guided him to the Martial Dao Testing Center. 1230 1232 1233

By transferring the Martial Dao Controller's fate and absorbing the Realm Domain's fortune, Gu Xingzhi assumed control of the Martial Dao Realm Domain and reached the peak of the Endless Source Lord rank. 1235

Primordial Era and the Luck World

After losing his cultivation and Authority in a Time-Space vortex, Gu Xingzhi entered the Primordial Era through the guidance of an Old Daoist. He became an Enlightenment Tea Tree, cultivated for vast periods of time, attained a Dao Body, and established the Enlightenment Palace. 1236 1237

He later entered the Heng Chuan Realm, aided the Mi Dynasty's rise, became its Regent, and used its national fortune to comprehend the Fortune Dao Rule. After the Mi Dynasty ascended, he infiltrated the Upper Realm, seized powerful bodies, and completed his Fortune Dao Rule. 1239 1240 1241 1242

Gu Xingzhi established the Fortune Palace and preached on Luck, guiding the development of kingdoms, sects, and the Luck World itself. When the Luck World became independent of Chaos, he entrusted it to Qing Chi and departed with Mi Ying. 1244 1246

Mortal Realm Tempering

Chi Yu eventually revealed that Gu Xingzhi was one of his Divided Sources. Rather than reclaiming him, Chi Yu intended for Gu Xingzhi to become an independent controller of the All Heavens Realm Domain, but judged that he required further tempering. 1247

Sent into the Liaoyuan Realm as a mortal, Gu Xingzhi lived in Tonggu Village under Old Farmer Ling's care. He retained an exceptional physical foundation, rescued Su Lin, and was later driven from the village after Chen Batian framed him. Gu Xingzhi killed Chen Batian in self-defense and began traveling. 1248 1249 1250

He joined Su Lin's Phoenix Nether Guard as its Chief Commander, rapidly mastered the Nethercloud Thirteen Sacred Art, received the Dragon Nether Sword, and helped Su Lin seize the Imperial City. 1251 1254

Authority Trials and Returns

Gu Xingzhi uncovered Tonggu Village's true nature as the Exquisite Illusion Realm, defeated its consciousness-based chess trial, and freed the realm from Kui You's tyranny. He subsequently gathered fragments of Source and Authority from powerful beings including Kui You, Qing Ao, the Ox Attendant, Cang Liu, Jin Chi, and Lei Qing. 1257 1258 1278 1281

During later trials, he repeatedly lost and regained cultivation while moving through separate Realm Domains. He awakened Moon Radiance, confronted those seeking to exploit his status as Chi Yu's Divided Source, and eventually returned to the All Heavens through the Azure Light's Void Crack. 1294 1299 1301

In another mortal-world trial, he gained the Word Count Advancement System, cultivated by writing, resolved the original body's grudge against the Yang Family, and destroyed the family after identifying Yang Jingtian as the threat behind attempts on his life. 1302 1305 1307

When the Epoch collapsed and Time-Space fell into disorder, Gu Xingzhi was driven mad by his inability to prevent the destruction. In the Time Abyss, another figure merged with him, restored his sanity, and unsealed his peak cultivation. 1312

Appearance

Gu Xingzhi commonly appears as a handsome young man with a dignified, domineering bearing. When using Dragon Clan Authority, he can become a massive Nine-clawed Dragon Ancestor before returning to a horned humanoid form. 1276

  • Usually maintains a calm, composed expression even while threatened. 1240 1285
  • Can manifest bifurcated dragon horns in humanoid Dragon Clan form. 1276
  • His Moon Radiance eventually manifests as a dazzling purple-gold light. 1297
  • During his breakdown in the Time Abyss, he becomes disheveled and resembles the Mad Old Man. 1312

Personality

Gu Xingzhi is adaptive and patient when placed in unfamiliar circumstances. Even after losing his cultivation, he accepts Chi Yu's arrangements, works alongside Old Farmer Ling, and treats mortal-world trials as part of his tempering. 1247 1248

He values freedom and initially rejects Ling Zhennan's offer to serve Xiao Cheng because he does not wish to be bound by others. 1250 He can nevertheless assume leadership when it serves his goals, becoming the Phoenix Nether Guard's Chief Commander and later acting as Regent of the Mi Dynasty. 1239 1251

His treatment of opponents is often ruthless. He kills those who obstruct, betray, or threaten people under his protection, including Chen Batian, multiple Grandmasters, Yang Jingtian, and the Yang Family. 1250 1254 1307 However, he honors agreements with cooperative parties, restoring Jin Chi after taking the arm that contained his Authority and helping Cang Liu recover after their exchange. 1278 1281
