September 13, Year 58 of Konoha
Hyuga Kei's training had once again entered a massive bottleneck. Although his Tenseigan pupil power was still being continuously refined, he had no idea when he would be able to take the next step.
The fusion of the Truth-Seeking Orb's seven chakra natures remained far off, and his research into resurrection techniques had yielded no clues.
He had, however, solved the issue of chakra natures and developed quite a few Nintaijutsu techniques.
Feeling slightly irritated, Hyuga Kei stared blankly into the curtain of rain falling in the distance.
While tidying the room, Uzumaki Yuka picked up a scroll and walked over to Hyuga Kei. "Lord Kei, can I read this book?"
Hyuga Kei turned to look at Yuka. It was a record he had brought out of Konoha's Sealing Room, the Warring States Sealing Chronicle. The moment he saw the title, he had lost all interest in reading it.
It sounded like the title of a novel. It was probably some boring work again.
"Go ahead." Hyuga Kei paid it no more attention. As a descendant of the Uzumaki Clan, it was only natural for her to like materials related to Fuinjutsu.
"Thank you."
As Hyuga Kei continued to stare absentmindedly at the rain outside, he suddenly recalled a character from a newly released Naruto game before his transmigration.
It had been a long time, but he vaguely remembered her background and story. It just wasn't clear enough.
Hyuga Kei formed hand seals and activated a Ninjutsu. "Ghostly Sublimation Technique."
This Ninjutsu allowed him to inspect soul memories. He wanted to examine his own memories—specifically, the memories from before his transmigration.
In a familiar room, Hyuga Kei held his phone and scrolled through videos as usual.
"Hey, everyone! Today, I'm bringing you Uchiha Hikari's story. Making videos isn't easy, so please like, comment, and subscribe. Uchiha Hikari, also known as Nanashi, was a ninja from the Warring States period..."
Within his memories, Hyuga Kei went through Uchiha Hikari's story once more.
In the end, he came to only one conclusion: she was naive, innocent, and proud. During the Warring States period, the Uchiha had nearly erased her sense of self, turning her into Nanashi, a weapon of war.
After her seal was released, Mitsuru, the leader of the Zero Organization who had inherited Pain's ideals, took the opportunity to instill in her the ambition of exterminating all ninja.
It could be said that she had been used her entire life. Only after meeting Boruto did she begin living a life of her own.
But that was exactly what Hyuga Kei had expected. Being used by someone was still being used. Why shouldn't she be used by him instead?
Leaving his memories and returning to reality, Hyuga Kei walked over to Uzumaki Yuka, who was sitting at the table flipping through the records.
"Have you seen a sealed person named Uchiha Hikari in there?"
Uzumaki Yuka did not understand why Hyuga Kei had suddenly become so agitated. "Not yet."
"Help me look for an Uchiha clansman who was jointly sealed by the Senju and Sarutobi Clans."
"Yes."
Yuka quickly flipped through the records. Hyuga Kei moved behind her, opening his Sharingan and using its dynamic vision to carefully read the words on the pages.
"I'm back!" Karin, returning from school, immediately saw her mother and Lord Kei looking at a book in an extremely intimate posture.
Karin nearly burst into tears, biting her collar. She had never imagined that her rivals would not only include the beautiful Uchiha Izumi and the aloof Konan, but also the mature beauty Uzumaki Yuka.
If her enemy was her mother, how was she supposed to deal with that? If Lord Kei married her mother, wouldn't she have to call Lord Kei Father?
Seeing her daughter return, Uzumaki Yuka turned around. "Welcome back."
Karin rushed upstairs, leaving behind only one sentence: "I wish you happiness!"
"What's wrong with her?" Yuka had no idea why Karin had suddenly said that.
"Keep looking through the records." Hyuga Kei paid even less attention. Even if he noticed, he would not care. Right now, he only wanted to know where Uchiha Hikari had been sealed.
"Okay."
The two continued searching through the records, and eventually found an account of the sealing of an Uchiha weapon.
It was roughly the same as the Warring States story Hyuga Kei had just seen in his memories. History had not been altered by Boruto.
It was simply written from the perspective of the Uchiha's enemies, with numerous terms such as "evil Uchiha" added in.
At last, at the end of the page, they found Uchiha Hikari's sealing location and the Fuinjutsu used.
Time-Locking Seal: Seals the target within a space where both time and space are completely frozen, though the person does not lose consciousness.
Blood-Recognition Seal: Can only be undone using blood similar to that of the caster.
No wonder Uchiha Hikari had survived until Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. It was thanks to the Time-Locking Seal. Back then, they had only sealed her instead of killing her outright; neither clan had been without thoughts of using her.
The Blood-Recognition Seal, meanwhile, was meant to prevent outsiders such as the Uchiha from undoing the seal. Yet it had indeed blocked Hyuga Kei as well.
The solution to the Time-Locking Seal could be found in this record, but the Blood-Recognition Seal definitely required the blood of direct descendants of the Sarutobi and Senju Clans.
Only one direct Senju descendant remained: Princess Tsunade. The Sarutobi Clan, however, had many. There was either Asuma Sarutobi, currently guarding the Feudal Lord of the Land of Fire, or Konohamaru Sarutobi in Konoha.
Naturally, Hyuga Kei chose Asuma Sarutobi at the Daimyo's Mansion. Compared to Konoha, that place was relatively safer.
He had seen the Guardians Twelve before. The only ones worth noting were the Lightning Release Four and their cooperative Ninjutsu: Lightning Release: Thunder Dream Thunder Man, a technique capable of destroying an entire village in a single strike in the original story.
Other than them, there was only Kazuma, who had used a technique similar to the Impure World Reincarnation Jutsu in the original story.
The technique was called the Earth Style Reincarnation Technique: using the corpse of someone about to die as a medium, it constructed the deceased's body with Earth Style and revived the dead as the caster's puppet.
The resurrected dead would possess the exact same appearance, physical abilities, and amount of chakra as they had in life. They could even use all the powers they had possessed before death.
But at this point in time, Hyuga Kei did not know whether Kazuma had learned it yet. He made up his mind... he would extract Kazuma's soul and bring it back for proper research.
Once he decided, he acted. Three days later, during the Akatsuki Organization meeting, after the assignments had been distributed as usual, Hyuga Kei still looked as lazy as ever. Unless he was specifically assigned, he absolutely would not join.
Don't ask why. If asked, he would say that going on missions alone without even a companion made him afraid of dying. Ask again, and he would say that he was still young, could still improve, and needed to train.
After the mission assignments ended, Hyuga Kei stated his objective. "Zetsu, I want to know Princess Tsunade's location."
White Zetsu answered first. "Princess Tsunade, the last descendant of the Senju Clan?"
Hyuga Kei nodded. "Yes."
"Alright. I'll send the intelligence over in a few days."
"Thanks."
Black Zetsu took the opportunity to probe further. "You're welcome. May I ask what you need her blood for?"
Hyuga Kei stated his purpose. "Research."
"Understood."
There was nothing wrong with saying that. The blood of the Senju Clan was naturally worth researching, and Princess Tsunade's genetic material surely contained traces of Wood Style. If he turned her into a blood bag too, wouldn't that be perfect?
"Kei, you're not planning to kill Princess Tsunade, are you? Aren't you the one most afraid of dying? How come you dare challenge one of the Konoha Sannin this time?"
That fellow Deidara shouted in alarm.
"You're my artistic partner. Don't die. Want us to come along with you?"
Sasori's low voice followed. "Hehehe. This is a good chance to see whether Princess Tsunade's medical skills can cure my poison."
Ever since Sasori had seen Hyuga Kei's Tenseigan grant puppets a spirit, he had begun to regard Hyuga Kei as something like a friend.
"Thanks, but I can handle it alone."
P.S. Uchiha Hikari's sealing did not follow the original story, since it never explained how Hikari was sealed or how she survived for so long.
The game presented it as being buried alive, but that has been changed here.
