Background / History

Kei’s parents were executed by Hyuga Hiashi for violating clan rules. His father secured Kei’s survival, but Hiruzen’s intervention came with the condition that Kei would receive the Caged Bird seal after awakening the Byakugan. Two years later, while being bullied by Branch Family members, he was aided by Hyuga Hizashi, who gave him his father’s ninjutsu scroll and chakra-refining method. Kei began training while vowing revenge on the Hyuga clan. 1

His early talent was exceptional: chakra refinement came easily, he quickly mastered Gentle Fist and his father’s C-rank Nintaijutsu, and he possessed reserves far above those of his peers. He suspected this stemmed from diluted Senju blood through his mother’s lineage. 2

As an Anbu operative, Kei began pursuing the Chimera Technique and manipulating Konoha’s political pressure against the Hyuga. He arranged for the Caged Bird branding of Branch House children to be delayed until age nine, protected Hizashi and Neji, and used clandestine research on Hyuga bodies and genes to seek the Byakugan’s evolution. 5 8

Kei eventually annihilated the Hyuga clan, became an S-rank missing-nin with a 50 million ryo bounty, and awakened the Tenseigan. He then targeted Uchiha bloodlines during the Uchiha massacre and fought Obito. 17

He joined Akatsuki in exchange for the promised fruit of the God Tree, while treating the organization as another instrument for his own research and long-term plans. In the Land of Rain, he used the identity Kimura Takuya, purported disciple of Hanzo, to deter invasions and build influence. 21 25 26
