Background / History
The Magma Immortal Palace was the former temporary palace of the Three Sects Forefathers, built with the Grand Emperor during their close relationship. It was buried within Fire Persimmon Mountain to suppress volcanic eruptions and transform the area from cursed land into a blessed one. 131
The palace was designed to remain within the mountain for another hundred years, but it emerged prematurely. The South Bean Royal Family had known of its existence for five hundred years and considered its early appearance suspicious. 66 131
Before its exposure, Meng Kui, the Zhou Family, and the Zheng Family secretly explored the palace and concealed its existence from the imperial court. The Ning Family later discovered it as well. 23 26
Ning Zhuo triggered an explosion beneath the palace using a Mechanical Fire Ape carrying a thousand jin of Fire Essence. The blast destroyed one corner and forced the palace to rise from Fire Persimmon Mountain. 22 Its emergence caused a volcanic eruption; Meng Kui used the mountain formation to contain the disaster and subsequently concealed the palace again. 23
The explosion also lowered the palace's selection criteria to the Qi Refining stage. Its Dharma Transmission Bell activated and broadly transmitted a cultivation technique throughout Fire Persimmon Immortal City, turning the palace's inheritance into an open contest. 23 26
The palace later suffered repeated riots and external assaults. Its own palace spirit, the Dragon Turtle Fire Spirit, intentionally weakened defenses and allowed damage to accumulate in pursuit of freedom from its confinement. 156 291 During the Crimson Flame Demon Beast tide, Nascent Soul-level beasts broke sections from the palace, destroyed major structures including the Troop Deployment Platform, and weakened its restrictions enough for lower-level cultivators to enter through gaps. 303 305 322
Following the crisis and the conclusion of the Palace Trial, Meng Kui became Palace Master and oversaw the reconstruction of damaged sections from the magma. 346 403
Appearance
The palace stands in Fire Persimmon Mountain's volcanic crater, surrounded by smoke, boiling magma, and intense firelight. Its architecture combines fire, metal, and earth-element characteristics. 23
- Golden pillars and red bricks that shine under reflected magma light. 23 261
- Towering pagodas, imposing main halls, and refined side halls arranged in a clear, deliberate layout. 23 261
- Sculptures of Fire Dragons, Fire Phoenixes, and other creatures throughout its grounds. 261
- A large spherical golden light shield used to defend the interior during the demon beast siege. 261 311
- The Main Hall contains the throne associated with the position of Palace Master. 223 312
Palace Systems & Capabilities
Volcanic Suppression
The palace's fundamental purpose is to suppress Fire Persimmon Mountain, absorb its Earth Flame, and limit the growth of Crimson Flame Demon Beasts. Its destruction directly threatens the safety of Fire Persimmon Immortal City. 165 283
- Restrains volcanic eruptions and magma activity beneath Fire Persimmon Mountain. 131 165
- Absorbs Earth Flame and provides access to vast underground resources. 283
- Its weakened state allows greater volcanic instability and demon beast incursions. 254 305
Inheritance Trials
The palace administers a mechanism-focused inheritance trial that selects a future Palace Master. Trial participants may have their souls drawn into the palace and inhabit mechanical puppet bodies. 35 54
- Early trial rooms test mechanical assembly, movement, evasion, and combat capability. 35 38
- Entry originally required a cultivator's mechanism skill to be recognized by the palace spirit. 119
- After the palace's exposure, Qi Refining cultivators cultivating the required method could participate in its trials. 26 60
- Trial Disciples possess privileges unavailable even to some outside investigators, including access to specific facilities. 167
- Participants can earn rewards, rankings, and contribution points through exploration and service to the palace. 154 159 182
- The final route to the Palace Master position is to place first in the Palace Trial and ascend the throne. 223
Dharma Transmission Bell
When the palace surfaced, its Dharma Transmission Bell activated and transmitted a cultivation technique across Fire Persimmon Immortal City. 23
- Its activation spread the palace's inheritance beyond the factions that had previously kept the site secret. 23 26
- The Five Elements Qi Rhythm Art became central to accessing the Qi Refining trial. 58 60
Mechanism Manufacture
The palace contains furnace facilities capable of producing mechanical constructs and sustaining its extensive mechanical forces. 159
| Furnace Grade | Known Function / Notes |
|---|---|
| Bronze Furnace | Lowest documented furnace grade; part of the palace's mechanism-production system. 159 |
| Iron Furnace | Second documented furnace grade. 157 159 |
| Silver Furnace | Required for refining materials possessing Superior Grade Talent. 157 |
| Gold Furnace | Highest furnace grade; used for Immortal Talent materials. There are eight, and damaged units are almost impossible to repair without the Three Sects Forefathers. 157 159 |
- The furnaces enable the palace to maintain what appears to be an inexhaustible supply of mechanisms. 159
- The Gold Furnace refined Yuan Dasheng's corpse into a powerful Mechanical Monkey. 92
- Known Golden Core-level mechanism battle generals include the Demon General, Dao Master, and Buddha Physician. 147
- The Dao Master can wield the Five Elements Qi Rhythm Art and use its five-element cycle to fight Golden Core-level opponents. 147
Internal Transport and Facilities
- Hidden Dragon Underground Passages — A complete network beneath the palace used to transport mechanisms and troops. 159
- Earth Dragon Wells — Sealed wells that connect to the Hidden Dragon Underground Passages. 159
- Discarded Items Room — Stores a large quantity of damaged mechanical creations, many of which can potentially be restored. 167
- Preparation Room — Contains the Five-Sided Stone Pillar leaderboard used to track trial rankings. 154 182
- Chance Secret Pavilion — A trial area whose restrictions weakened as the palace was damaged, allowing participants to recover more of their original strength. 314 320
Defensive Systems
The palace deploys mechanisms, formations, barriers, and artillery against external threats. Its defenses weaken as physical sections of the palace are destroyed. 143 305
- Mechanical constructs and arrays form defensive lines against Crimson Flame Demon Beasts. 143 146
- A spherical light shield protects the palace from direct attacks, though Nascent Soul-level demon beasts breached and shattered it multiple times. 303 311
- Five Elements Cannon Towers can bombard targets on Fire Persimmon Mountain. 256 303
- The palace can adjust trial difficulty in response to challengers' strength, according to the Three Families' assessment. 163
- Damage to the palace weakens its restrictions, progressively allowing Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, and eventually stronger cultivators to enter. 305
Authority
The palace's supreme authority is divided into three parts: the position of Palace Master, the Dragon Turtle Fire Spirit, and the My Buddha Heart Demon Seal. 312
- Palace Master — Holds the throne and formal mastership of the palace. Meng Kui later occupies this role. 223 403
- Dragon Turtle Fire Spirit — The palace spirit responsible for aspects of its operation and defense. 29 222
- My Buddha Heart Demon Seal — A separate portion of supreme authority that the South Bean Royal Family specifically warned its descendants not to touch. 312
Relationships
- Three Sects Forefathers — Original owner and creator; left the palace behind to suppress Fire Persimmon Mountain and preserve his Mechanism inheritance. 131 165
- Grand Emperor of South Bean Country — Helped build the palace with the Three Sects Forefathers. 131
- Dragon Turtle Fire Spirit — Palace spirit bound within the Main Hall; views the palace as both its temporary body and prison. 29 291 312
