Background

Ning Zhuo was born during the Ning Family’s migration. His father remained behind to block pursuing enemies so that the family’s mechanism vehicle could escape, while Ning Xiaoren swore to protect Ning Zhuo and his mother and support his future cultivation. Ning Xiaoren later neglected that promise. Before Ning Zhuo’s birth, his father had obtained an Early Wisdom Pill intended to benefit the child’s cultivation. 5 28 98

His mother, Meng Yaoyin, was a mechanism cultivator whose classics became Ning Zhuo’s earliest connection to Mechanism Art. As a child, he treasured her books, watched Li Leifeng’s puppet shows at the Benevolent Childcare Garden, and developed a lasting interest in mechanisms and puppets. 104

Meng Yaoyin apparently died when Ning Zhuo was two years old, leaving him to grow up under the care of relatives who often treated him as an unwanted burden.
