History

Origins and the Monkey Head Gang

Yuan Dasheng began as an injured Fire Melt Demon Ape cub discovered in the volcano by Yuan Yi. Yuan Yi rescued the cub, formed a contract with it, and named it “Dasheng”; the two survived together in poverty before Dasheng's growing strength changed their fortunes 69.

They left the Beggar Gang and earned a living through Black Market beast fighting. Dasheng endured countless bloody fights, becoming a recognized combatant before the suppression of the beast-fighting trade left the pair vulnerable again 69.

After the Beggar Gang imprisoned Yuan Yi and Dasheng, they escaped with fellow prisoners and fought their way through several days of street battles. Yuan Yi was elected leader afterward and founded the Monkey Head Gang; Dasheng's strength was vital to the gang's survival against rival gangs 69.

As Dasheng became the gang's feared cornerstone, Yuan Yi formally gave him the surname Yuan. The ape became known as Yuan Dasheng, while the gang's reliance on him later became a source of anxiety for Yuan Er 69 81.

Magma Immortal Palace and Death

Yuan Dasheng entered the Magma Immortal Palace trials as a demon cultivator. Its martial arts allowed it to destroy Kung Fu Puppets without relying on spells, revealing the intended method for clearing Room Three to Ning Zhuo 63.

Ning Zhuo defeated Yuan Dasheng in Room Eight by keeping his distance, combining spells with mechanical components, and denying the ape the close combat in which it excelled 68 69. Yuan Dasheng's demonstrated strength and its ties to the Monkey Head Gang made it a target for the major powers of Fire Persimmon Immortal City 69.

While collecting Thousand-Year Fire Persimmons, Yuan Dasheng was caught in a catastrophic chain explosion. It immediately shielded Yuan Er, but the defensive formation trapped both inside the burning forest 77. Zhu Xuanji stabilized Yuan Dasheng's injuries, but Ning Zhuo later manipulated Yuan Er into withholding the Late Autumn Life-Preserving Pill; Yuan Dasheng died from its wounds without learning of Ning Zhuo's role 78 82.

Rebirth as a Sentient Mechanism

Ning Zhuo took Yuan Dasheng's corpse into the Magma Immortal Palace and refined it in the Gold Furnace, producing the Golden Blood Battle Ape Dasheng 92. He later gathered Yuan Dasheng's old possessions from the Monkey Head Gang, using their lingering spirituality to restore the mechanical ape's Spiritual Growth 122 123.

Once its Spiritual Growth reached 100%, Yuan Dasheng developed self-sufficient spirituality and briefly rejected Ning Zhuo's commands, leaving the underground base under the influence of intense emotion 123. Ning Zhuo eventually moved its spirituality into the Tree Martial Battle Ape Dasheng, a body capable of independent action and greater adaptability 128.

Yuan Dasheng's rescue of Ning Zhuo and Sun Lingtong from Qi Bai brought its spirituality into alignment with Ning Zhuo's actions. It awakened speech, addressed Ning Zhuo as “Lord,” and entered the Spirit Intelligence Stage 149 152.

Appearance

Yuan Dasheng's original body was a massive Fire Melt Demon Ape shaped by years of beast fighting and street combat. Its mechanical incarnations retain an ape-like build designed for powerful close-quarters fighting.

Yuan Dasheng is battle-hardened, direct, and instinctively protective. It rose from poverty and violence alongside Yuan Yi, developing ambition, judgment, and a will that prevented it from simply becoming Yuan Er's obedient weapon 69 81.

Its defining loyalty is directed toward Yuan Yi and Yuan Er. It raised Yuan Er from childhood, protected him from bullies, and risked its life to shield him during the Fire Persimmon Forest explosion 77 81 144. Yuan Er's decision to abandon it therefore carries particular tragedy.

As a sentient mechanism, Yuan Dasheng retains this sense of righteousness. Ning Zhuo gains a deeper connection with it only after choosing to save Yuan Er and later risking himself for Sun Lingtong, actions that align with Yuan Dasheng's values 130 149.
