Background / History

Flower Branch originated as Yuan Ming's dormant Demonic Vine Black Toad. When released from his Spirit Beast Bag, it had lost its former toad-like form and become a mass of thorned purple-black vines covered in pale-red flowers. It subsequently formed a humanoid body, awakened intelligence, and accepted the name Yuan Ming gave it: Flower Branch. 245

Yuan Ming initially stationed Flower Branch beneath the General's Mansion as a guard. He later released her into the Rain Ruins Marsh to hunt demonic beasts, gather spirit materials, and build a force of lesser demonic-beast subordinates. Her aggressive hunting rapidly strengthened her, while her subordinates collected plants, herbs, and other materials for Yuan Ming. 245 260 262

Di Chen attempted to capture Flower Branch as his spirit beast after binding her with Flame Chains. Yuan Ming arrived, forced Di Chen to release her, and declined to pursue him, reinforcing Flower Branch's reliance on and loyalty to her master. 289

Appearance

Flower Branch's original humanoid form is built from living vines rather than flesh. She can alter her body extensively, including converting limbs into weapons, roots, or underground vines. 245 492

  • A human-height vine person with unusually slender limbs and a peculiar face. 245
  • Purple-black vines covered in sharp thorns, with pale-red vine flowers growing among them. 245
  • Her first humanoid head had flower-shaped eyes, piled vines forming facial features, buds for ears, and shed vine skin resembling long hair. 245
  • Later appeared as a petite, beautiful young woman when acting among Nascent Soul cultivators. 575
  • At higher cultivation, parts of her body revert to vine form and bloom with large, vibrant flowers carrying a dense life aura. 1005

Personality

Flower Branch is lively, excitable, and openly proud of her growth. Immediately after receiving her name, she eagerly demonstrated her abilities and sought Yuan Ming's praise. 245 She is intensely loyal to Yuan Ming, repeatedly volunteering for dangerous tasks and treating his protection and gifts as signs of trust. 289 492 319

Her devotion does not prevent independent ambition. She enjoys hunting, gathers and commands demonic beasts, founded the Sacred Spirit Society, and argued that she had learned enough from Xiying to organize and develop it properly. 260 775 831 She can also be mischievous: after secretly placing a spore-clone trap inside the Heaven-Stealing Cauldron, she was severely reprimanded by Yuan Ming and tearfully promised not to repeat the act. 616

Abilities & Skills

Wood-Element Spells and Vine Combat

Flower Branch can use Yuan Ming's wood-element spells and reshape her own vines into weapons, restraints, shields, and subterranean attacks. She is limited to wood-element techniques. 245

  • Forms purple-black vine longswords from her arms. 245
  • Casts Wood Prison Art, rapidly growing grass into a restraining cage. 245
  • Creates volleys of Wooden Flying Swords and can drag or wield physical blades with her vines. 278 289
  • Burrows through earth, attacks from below, and can pull restrained enemies underground. 278 492
  • An Earth Solidifying Talisman can prevent her from escaping underground. 289
  • Ordinary flames became far less threatening after her Level Four advancement, but black flame capable of burning spiritual power can still destroy her vines. 578

Devouring and Symbiotic Assimilation

As a Demon Heart Vine, Flower Branch can consume living targets, absorb their life essence, and assimilate divine abilities through symbiosis. 547

  • Drains prey's blood and vitality until only a dry husk remains. 260
  • Gained poison-devouring and poison-producing abilities after absorbing the Black Toad's life essence. 262 547
  • Produces purple-black spiritual flowers containing potent poison, which Yuan Ming intended to refine into poison incense. 262
  • Merged symbiotically with Purple Extreme Tai Sui, allowing her to employ its transparent poisonous droplets against protective barriers. 576
  • Her poison-drawing ability could not remove Lei He's Sandman Poison from Yuan Ming. 547

Regeneration and Clones

Flower Branch possesses exceptional regenerative ability and can divide portions of her body into combat-capable clones. 492

  • Regenerates damage from the Starry Sky Beasts' falling starlight, though doing so consumes substantial demonic power. 492
  • Created a smaller clone after reaching Level Three; it carried part of her demonic power and could endure poisonous mist temporarily. 492
  • Used repeated underground vine attacks to delay Starry Sky Strange Bulls long enough for Yuan Ming's escape. 492
  • Her advanced spore clone is formed from nearly a hundred spores and can fuse undetectably with plants or living beings; an individual spore lacks sufficient intelligence to function alone. 616

Spore Forms

Flower Branch's Level Four and Level Five advancements greatly expanded her spore-based abilities. 570 775

  • Parasite — Spores implanted during an earlier attack can bloom as fleshy red flowers inside targets, rapidly draining their mana. 570
  • Poisonous Form — Spores can lethally poison targets, leaving corpses covered in vivid flowers; even Void Return cultivators must expend considerable effort to suppress the toxin. 775
  • Healing Form — Spores absorb and store enemies' spiritual power, then produce non-poisonous white flowers that restore stamina and mana when consumed. 775

Detection and Spirit-Plant Handling

Flower Branch's connection to earth and vegetation makes her effective at locating hidden mechanisms and managing spiritual plants. 579

  • Detected and destroyed the underground energy-supplying array sustaining the Eight Directions Return to Origin Array. 579
  • Can root into the ground to drain spiritual energy from herbs and trees. 579
  • Excavated the Spirit Source Tree with its roots and soil for transplantation into the Heaven-Stealing Cauldron. 579
  • Identified poison in tea by consuming a leaf from the cup and testing it directly. 317

Master-Assisted Empowerment

Yuan Ming can reinforce Flower Branch through the Golden Sunflower Beast Taming Art, lending her mana and selected divine abilities. 577 578

  • Yuan Ming's mana raised her combat output to Level Four mid-stage while she fought the Blood Realm Venerable. 577
  • With Yuan Ming's support and the Purple Star Nine Dragon Spear, she broke the Blood Spirit Great Law's pressure and severed the Blood Realm Venerable's arm. 577
  • Yuan Ming lent her the Golden Sunflower Beast Taming Art's soul-searching capability against Zhu Yu, though the treant's body contained no soul. 578

  • Evil Averting Talisman — A costly talisman Yuan Ming gave her for protection. 319
