History

Ancient era

The Wuyue Cult was once the dominant power of the Northern Desert and extended its influence into the Central Plains, East Sea, Western Regions, and Southern Border. Unlike conventional cultivation sects, it operated as a religion that accepted both cultivators and mortals as followers. 368

The cult became infamous for its Soul Cultivator disciples' pursuit of forbidden arts and evil treasures. Its members killed people for souls, massacred cities, and exterminated clans, eventually prompting Changchun Temple and forces from the Central Plains, East Sea, Western Regions, and Southern Border to unite and eradicate it. 368

The Wuyue God survived the purge with near-fatal injuries and entered a prolonged slumber. Its later need for Divine Souls was tied to recovering from those injuries. 645

Secret survival and resurgence

Despite its supposed destruction, the cult survived through hidden inheritances, rogue alliances, minor sects, and affiliated organizations. Dawn was one such outer organization, while the Black Desert Rogue Alliance was under Wuyue Cult control. 427 445

The cult resurfaced openly in the Northern Desert, supporting local deities such as the Black River God, Black Bear God, and Crow Snake God. These cults recruited mortal believers and gathered Wish Power for the Wuyue Cult. 442 462

Continental war

The Wuyue Cult occupied nearly half of the East Sea's islands, including Fusang, Golden Tortoise, Ethereal, and Earth Splendor Islands. Its forces used the Crimson Blood Red Sand Array to isolate and suppress the East Sea Alliance. 625 627

After setbacks in the East Sea, the cult consolidated on Fusang Island behind the Life Creation Array. Venerable White Bone refined the Ghostly White Bone Banner there before the East Sea Alliance repelled the invasion and killed him. 636 643
