On the other side, Nagi Saijo led a group of team members to the machine room.

The guards at the door stopped them. "Please halt. Dr. Tsuchihashi has ordered that no one may enter."

Kishida: "I've been appointed as Dr. Tsuchihashi's bodyguard. Does that not count?"

The guard shook his head. "Dr. Tsuchihashi specifically emphasized that no one is allowed."

Nagi Saijo stepped forward. "We received intel that aliens have infiltrated the base and intend to harm Dr. Tsuchihashi. Chief of Staff Kiriyama therefore instructed us to reinforce security. Please open the door."

The guard looked troubled. "But... I haven't received any such notification."

Meanwhile, inside the room, Dr. Tsuchihashi was adjusting equipment parameters, attempting to shut down the offshore base's main unit.

Birah Star Alien: "Well done, Dr. Tsuchihashi. During the radar malfunction, our fleet has already assembled. Preparations for the full-scale assault are complete. Hurry and disrupt the situation so we can break through in one go."

Dr. Tsuchihashi nodded.

The two guards outside were unyielding. They remained unfazed even by Yamanaka's threat, "You'll be held responsible if something goes wrong." Nagi Saijo, at a loss, could only report to Chief of Staff Kiriyama and ask him to come over.

As Emi waited impatiently, an idea suddenly struck her. If the arrogant team member Qi Ming were here, he'd probably just kick the door down. He'd kick the guards down too if they tried to stop him.

Soon, Chief of Staff Kiriyama arrived and ordered the guards to open the door.

Although Chief of Staff Kiriyama didn't hold much real power, his status meant the guards dared not offend him. They reluctantly complied.

The next moment, a shocking turn of events occurred.

The bright main lights extinguished, and dim emergency lights flickered on.

A mechanical voice echoed through every corner of the offshore base: "Main unit system, function stopped. Main unit system, function stopped. All systems ceasing operation, self-protection system deactivated, main control system shut down."

This was, of course, Dr. Tsuchihashi's "masterpiece."

"Something's really happened!" Nagi Saijo, who had already sensed something was wrong, gritted her teeth. She was too late!

Kiriyama: "Open the door quickly!"

The guard's face turned pale. "I can't. I pressed the button, but there's no response!"

With the shutdown of the main control system, all machinery ceased to function. The offshore base, once a crystallization of human intellect, had now become a mere metal shell.

On the other side, Qi Ming, inside the prison, heard the commotion outside. Without surprise, he tilted his head up. "It's finally started."
