Background / History

Nagi begins as the stern, seemingly unapproachable Vice-Captain of the Defense Team. When Captain Mamoru Shirogane is injured, she argues that his frontline replacement must be selected carefully, rejecting the idea of accepting Qi Ming merely for his appearance or apparent potential. 5

Her early relationship with Qi Ming is openly hostile. Viewing his independent actions as recklessness, she plans to request his transfer after the mission at the snowy village. Their dispute escalates into a hand-to-hand fight, where she is the only one of the three officers able to exchange several moves with him before he knocks her unconscious. 6 11

Nagi's priorities are initially uncompromising: defeating the monster and preventing a larger disaster take precedence over individual hesitation. She condemns Kishida for refusing to launch a missile as Qi Ming advised, and later prepares to shoot Mayumi when she believes the woman cannot be separated from the monster possessing her. 36 72

Nagi is disciplined, blunt, and intensely mission-focused. She does not blindly follow orders, however; when Mamoru orders her to support the endangered Melba, she demands a reasonable explanation before complying. 92
