Background / History
Master Xun is the Confucian School's most senior living authority, ranking above Little Sage Village's leader Fu Nian. His prestige is such that Fu Nian, Zhang Liang, and Yan Lu address him as uncle-master. Han Fei and Great Qin's prime minister Li Si were once his disciples. Within the Hundred Schools of Thought, he is regarded as a potential third Confucian sage after Confucius and Mencius. 519
Despite the gap in age and status, Master Xun formed a close friendship with Tianming during the boy's studies at Little Sage Village and intended to treat him as an equal. Zhang Liang believed Tianming's request could persuade Master Xun to shelter the hunted Mohist School. 519
Master Xun returned to Little Sage Village to protect the Mohists and its Confucian disciples from the Qin Army's search. His presence alone deterred Wang Li from ordering a forced search of the village. 523 528
When Su Chen infiltrated Little Sage Village and captured Yan Lu, Master Xun intervened personally. He recognized Su Chen as a dangerous opponent whose killing power exceeded his displayed Peak Land Immortal cultivation, and prioritized evacuating the village before a full battle could devastate it. 524 525
Su Chen ultimately forced Master Xun back half a step by recklessly accelerating his True Qi circulation at the cost of apparent meridian damage. Master Xun considered killing Su Chen to prevent future danger to the Confucian School, but abandoned the attempt because Su Chen could endanger the village's disciples and provoke Great Qin's retaliation. 536 537
After later being suppressed in a rematch with Su Chen, Master Xun voluntarily paid respects to Ying Zheng and chose to serve Great Qin. He subsequently joined Su Chen, Fusu, and Wang Li in the campaign to rectify the Hundred Schools of Thought. 587 590 591
Appearance
Master Xun is an elderly man with white hair and a white beard. He is often depicted with a calm, scholarly bearing, including while quietly drinking tea or stroking his beard. 523 524 586
- White hair and beard. 524
- Elderly, but still possesses martial power at the Martial Dao Celestial realm. 524 586
- Maintains a composed and dignified manner even during confrontations. 524 525
Personality
Master Xun is calm, restrained, and deeply protective of the Confucian School. Although he possesses overwhelming martial strength, he avoids fighting recklessly when Little Sage Village or its disciples may suffer collateral damage. 525 537
He values integrity and decisiveness. After agreeing to return to Xianyang for trial, he insists that the word of a Martial Dao Celestial is guaranteed; once he later accepts service under Great Qin, he resolves to set aside hesitation and fulfill that choice wholeheartedly. 574 590
His attachment to the Confucian School is both his defining virtue and a strategic weakness. Su Chen correctly judges that Master Xun will not trade the lives of hundreds of Confucian disciples merely to eliminate one enemy. 537
Abilities & Skills
Martial Dao Celestial Cultivation
Master Xun is a veteran Martial Dao Celestial, also described as a Martial Arts Heavenly Human. His strength is sufficient to make Great Qin, Wang Li, and Su Chen treat Little Sage Village with caution. 522 524 528
- Easily arrived without Su Chen detecting his presence, demonstrating a substantial advantage over Su Chen at the time of their first meeting. 524
- His status deterred Wang Li from leading the Qin Army into Little Sage Village without proof. 528 561
- In a direct True Qi clash, he exhausted Su Chen's reserves at a rate faster than Su Chen could replenish them from the environment. 536
- Withstood Su Chen's desperate attack, though he was forced back half a step and later faced renewed pressure after Su Chen reached the same realm. 536 587
Confucian Authority
Master Xun's seniority gives him exceptional influence within the Confucian School and among the Hundred Schools of Thought. 519 591
- Can overrule or persuade Fu Nian on matters concerning Little Sage Village. 519
- Personally guaranteed that Little Sage Village was not sheltering rebels, compelling Wang Li to abandon a hasty search. 561
- Was included in Fusu's rectification team specifically because few figures among the Hundred Schools possess greater seniority. 591
Four Symbols Heavenly Gang Array
Master Xun joined Su Chen, Bei Mingzi, and Great Qin's Imperial Family Martial Dao Celestial in the Four Symbols Heavenly Gang Array against the Ancient Seven Star Constellations. 646
- Combined True Qi with the other participants to manifest phantoms of the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise. 646
- Helped severely injure the Ancient Star Constellations, allowing Su Chen to eliminate them. 646
- Later affirmed that without the formation supplied by Su Chen, their survival against the Ancient Spirits would have been uncertain. 648
