Pain... darkness...
Hu Feng couldn't recall how long he had been tortured in this endless void.
He was originally an ordinary, extreme shut-in on Earth. After repeated blows and setbacks from society, Hu Feng always prayed to the gods and Buddhas, "Please, let me transmigrate! I don't want to live this life anymore!"
So, the unfortunate Hu Feng was also fortunate. A mysterious force truly responded to him. Then, Hu Feng got his wish and transmigrated. After that, he appeared in this endless darkness and began to endure torment.
Hu Feng could feel his body being continuously torn apart and then restored again.
A painful, endless cycle.
In this space, Hu Feng could only see two colors: black and green. These two forces were tormenting him. He couldn't take it anymore. His heart, filled with fear and wails, instantly transformed into rage, and violence filled his being.
"Come on! Kill me!"
"Kill me!"
"If I don't die, I will definitely get revenge! I'll repay you a hundredfold, a thousandfold!"
"No matter what you are!"
The two forces seemed to hear the silent roar from Hu Feng's now bone-white jaw and paused for the first time. Immediately, they simultaneously plunged into Hu Feng's heart, flowing through him like blood.
The black energy reshaped Hu Feng's left half. His left arm turned to dust, and the black energy gathered like flowing water, rapidly forming a new arm covered in faintly glowing patterns. His left eye's eyeball had vanished, replaced by a cluster of actively flickering black fire.
The green energy was not to be outdone. The green infernal fire on his right half burned fiercely, then slowly retracted into his body, transforming into runes emitting green light. His right eye became a mass of violent green fire.
Both forces attempted to invade his heart but were blocked by a third, mysterious golden energy. Countless tentacle-like nerves then spread out, and Hu Feng felt the control over his body slowly returning to him. At this moment, a surge of unfamiliar memories flooded in. Hu Feng jolted, beginning to diligently process these memories.
He hadn't even been born yet; he was still in an egg! And the planet incubating him was a planet! He... was named Sargeras, a nascent Titan, an unborn new Titan.
The masters of the two forces that had tried to kill him, but which he had ultimately assimilated and absorbed, were now outside his planetary egg.
The wielder of the black energy was the Void Lords, embodiments of the void, a collective aiming for the return of all existence to primordial nothingness.
The wielder of the green energy was a Titan, a corrupted, dark Titan named Sargeras. Every new Titan instinctively possessed memories of their kin. This dark Titan, Hu Feng knew, had a disagreement with his brethren, believing that the only way to stop the Void Lords was to destroy the entire universe and then rebuild it.
The Void Lords, meanwhile, were constantly seeking out unborn Titans to corrupt and turn into their pawns and tools. Thus, the dark Titan Sargeras attempted to kill him with his evil power before the void energy could corrupt him.
The nascent Titan, after prolonged torture and resistance, was on the verge of corruption and death. In his desperation, he sensed Hu Feng's prayer and forcibly merged. Finally, Hu Feng's will consumed the nascent Titan's will, replacing it and becoming the Titan Sargeras.
Now, the two sides had ceased their battle, their gazes converging on this planet named Sargeras.
At this moment, the planet was deathly silent, devoid of any life fluctuations. The dark Titan Sargeras let out a few low chuckles. His physique was immeasurably grand; the planet was no larger than a ball in their eyes. Behind him stretched an endless expanse of the Burning Legion, composed of all manner of demons.
"Void Lords... I told you long ago that you would fail, and then this universe will burn, and you will be buried with it."
In contrast, the Void Lords' bodies were hidden within the constantly churning, distorted black void, countless eyes coldly staring at the former.
"This was just a minor setback. This nascent Titan was too fragile; even if corrupted, it would have been useless. And you, dark Titan, you killed your own kin with your own hands. It must feel wonderful, you..."
Before the Void Lord could finish, an energy fluctuation interrupted him. The planet Sargeras suddenly erupted with a violent torrent of energy. To the shock of both sides, this surge, led by the Titan's golden divine power and drawing upon void energy and fel energy, spread outwards, heading towards both factions. Simultaneously, a cacophony of frenzied whispers filled the universe.
"You want to corrupt me? You want to kill me? Your deaths are not far off!" Hu Feng's voice reached the ears of the Void Lords and Sargeras, who immediately defended against the incoming mixed energies.
After a blinding flash of light, both sides gradually realized that while the power appeared immense, it lacked significant offensive force. They were momentarily stunned before reacting. However, by the time they dispersed the energy torrent, the location where the planet Sargeras had been was now empty.
The dark Titan Sargeras was first enraged, then thoughtful, and finally burst into laughter. "Foolish Void Lords, you wished to corrupt a Titan? Look at the result now! Hahahahaha... We have personally forged a Titan capable of commanding the void and dark fel energy! And he hasn't even grasped his divine domain! Just as he said, your deaths are not far off, hahahaha." With that, the Titan's colossal body and the endless demon army behind him began to slowly dissipate into the universe, departing.
Only the Void Lords remained in the universe, furiously enraged.
Meanwhile, Hu Feng was maneuvering his egg, the planet Sargeras, through erratic, unpredictable leaps. Both sides were world-ending existences, and Hu Feng dared not guarantee the speed of their pursuit.
After a long period of aimless traversal, Hu Feng suddenly felt a calling and realized it was another unborn Titan! Only unborn Titans could sense their kind. However, due to the extreme rarity of Titan beings, including the dark Titan Sargeras, there were fewer than ten of their kind in total, each with their own divine domain.
The rest were lesser Titans and Titan constructs, beings made of metal. Therefore, Hu Feng's random leaps, by sheer chance, bringing him close to an undiscovered nascent Titan, could only be attributed to protagonist's luck...
Hu Feng immediately proceeded towards the sensed location. After a long while, within a star system, space rippled, and the planet Sargeras appeared.
This was an exceptionally beautiful star system, like a hidden paradise, remote, concealed, and beautiful. The colorful spiral arms of the galaxy flowed gently. Unlike the violent cosmic winds outside, the planets in this star system emitted a gentle, calm energy, interspersed with crystalline streams of energy. Hu Feng immediately spotted his target, as if that planet was destined to be so unique.
A message, devoid of conscious intent, was transmitted, and Hu Feng learned that this planet was named Azeroth, which in Titan language meant "Land of Shining Stars."
A nascent Titan slumbered at the planet's core, but she was too small, so small that she didn't even have her own consciousness, only instinctively emitting a call for her kin. Similarly, Hu Feng learned from his memories that long, long ago, the Titans had visited this place, discovered Azeroth, and several Old Gods, subordinates of the Void Lords, had also found it.
Thus, a great battle ensued. Before the Old Gods could transmit the news to the Void Lords, they were defeated by the Titan constructs under the Titans' command and sealed away underground. To protect Azeroth, the Titans destroyed the records of Azeroth's coordinates and established heavy defenses. These defensive enchantments prevented the Void Lords, and even the Titans themselves, from reaching this place, let alone finding it.
Hu Feng was overjoyed at this moment. This star system was an ideal sanctuary. As long as he remained low-key here and didn't deliberately emit any universe-shaking energy torrents, no one would discover him. Moreover, this nascent Titan named Azeroth was his future ally. Hu Feng wasn't foolish enough to confront the Void Lords and the dark Titan Sargeras alone.
Therefore, Hu Feng urgently needed allies and his own power base. Having become an immortal Titan, he had no shortage of time. Over these long ages, he could gradually interact with Azeroth, instilling ideas. The blank slate that Azeroth was would undoubtedly become his most steadfast and loyal ally in the future.
Hu Feng slowly moved the planet Sargeras closer to the planet Azeroth, finally positioning them at a distance similar to Earth and the moon in his previous life, and began to observe Azeroth.
At this moment, the planet Azeroth had only one massive continent, presenting a completely primordial, natural appearance. Mountains, rivers, and basins were scattered across it. In the four cardinal directions, Titan-made structures and ruins were visible everywhere.
In the center of the continent, a lake emitting strong fluctuations caught Hu Feng's attention. His memories told him that this was the site of the most intense battle, where powerful attacks had even wounded Azeroth, causing her divine blood to surge to the surface and gather into a lake of immense power.
Intelligent life had already appeared on the planet. They were primate-like creatures about two meters tall, with large feet, long pointed ears, two tusks protruding from their mouths, and hunched bodies. Around the central lake on the continent, these intelligent beings were even more numerous, with villages and tribes scattered along the lake's edge.
As time passed, these beings who lived near the lake began to change, becoming different from the appearance of their kin on the continent. The savage tusks disappeared, their height reduced to about one meter seventy to eighty, their hunched bodies straightened, their rough skin became smooth, and their skin color turned purple, pale purple, or white. Their long, silver-white hair, paired with their long, pointed ears, gave them an exceptionally beautiful appearance. They began to call themselves Night Elves, no longer acknowledging the savage creatures elsewhere on the continent as their kin, referring to them as Trolls.
The Night Elves consolidated their villages and tribes, beginning to establish a nation. The lake was now called the Well of Eternity, and the Night Elves built a vast, glorious city by the lake as their capital. The city was named Eldarath, in honor of their queen, the Light of Lights, the Light of a Thousand Moons, the Moon of Moons, Queen Azshara.
During the long evolutionary period of the Night Elves, Hu Feng also seized the opportunity to descend miracles multiple times, winning over followers. The first miracle descended when the Night Elves were still in their uncivilized tribal stage.
That day, the ancient ancestors of the Night Elves were still living their normal lives. The old elven wizards and seers, as usual, sat by the Well of Eternity, sensing magic. Suddenly, the sky turned gloomy, and the Night Elves felt a majestic pressure filling the surrounding air.
A thick pillar of energy descended from the sky, striking directly into the waters of the Well of Eternity. Hu Feng had intended only to instill some information into the slumbering Azeroth, so he used an energy flow devoid of any offensive power, mixed with mental messages, to strike into Azeroth's body through the Well of Eternity. However, when he saw more and more Night Elves gathering by the lake, most of them already kneeling and praying, Hu Feng had a sudden inspiration and decided to win over a group of his followers along the way.
The pillar of energy slowly dissipated, and a giant eye appeared in the sky, flowing with and emitting energy of three colors. The eye was covered in radiant divine patterns, as if the sky itself was a canvas, and these runes were etched upon it.
The Night Elves on the ground were in an uproar. The chaotic and dense crowd had some kneeling in worship, others muttering prayers with their heads bowed, and still others standing dumbfounded. The elder wizards and prophets, after their initial shock, quickly reacted. Had the God of Magic finally descended with a miracle?
"My name is Sargeras, God of Magic and Eternity. Your will to seek magic and truth by my lake has drawn my attention. Believe in me, and you shall receive eternal blessings."
Hu Feng manipulated the divine eye, emitting a sound that boomed across the heavens and earth. Immediately, points of light made of energy rained down from the sky. The elder wizards felt their vitality surge back into their bodies, while the younger elves achieved breakthroughs or gained enhancements.
Instantly, everyone knelt on the ground. Countless streams of faith surged from within them, establishing a link with Hu Feng. Golden energy condensed from the elves and then shot towards the sky, heading straight for the divine eye. The scene became even more spectacular. However, before the leading elder elf wizard could speak, the divine eye began to fade.
"Remember your faith, Night Elves. I will watch over you always."
"We will forever faithfully believe in you! God of Magic! May your glory shine upon the entire world!" Several elder wizards shouted ecstatically from their knees.
From that day on, the Night Elves gained a new faith. A church composed of elf mages and prophets was formed, known as the Council of Truth. They called themselves the Highborne, to distinguish themselves from their kin who could not wield magic. The symbol and banner of the Highborne was the divine eye that Hu Feng had revealed. After being beautified by the elves, it was imprinted on banners, emblems, and even clothing. The Highborne called it the Eye of Truth.
And in the long passage of time, another group of Night Elves found faith. They worshipped the Moon Goddess Elune, who had never revealed herself. After training, they became Moon Priestesses who wielded moonlight energy, and subsequently established their own organization: the Temple of the Moon.
After the Night Elves established their empire, the Highborne of the Council of Truth became the royal mages in Queen Azshara's court. The Moon Priestesses of the Temple of the Moon, however, spread throughout the land, establishing temples everywhere to help and heal the people.
The Night Elf empire flourished, expanding its territory and gradually occupying most of the habitable regions on the continent. Their former kin, the Trolls, were shattered and scattered, fleeing into remote or desolate areas to eke out a meager existence.
The Night Elves were incredibly glorious during this period. They even maintained close and friendly relations with the Titans' World-Guardians, the five Great Dragons.
The Red Dragon Queen Alexstrasza, the Life-Binder, whose dragonfire could bring life to the dead.
The Green Dragon Queen Ysera, the Dreamer, who governed the Emerald Dream of Azeroth, a world where everything remained in its primal natural state.
The Blue Dragon Aspect Malygos, the Spell-Weaver, administrator of the arcane, overseeing the world's magic and preventing disasters.
The Black Dragon Aspect Neltharion, the Earth-Warder, in charge of all things terrestrial.
The Bronze Dragon Aspect Nozdormu, the Timeless One, who traversed past and future, overseeing the stability of the timestream and preventing its disruption or alteration.
The world developed in a stable and orderly fashion, but one day, a voice appeared in the mind of the Night Elf Queen Azshara.
The voice promised that if the Night Elves helped him enter this world, he would create a brand new world for them, where only Night Elves would reign supreme. The Queen herself would gain unimaginable power.
All the elves had to do was use the Well of Eternity to open a portal and maintain it, allowing the deity and his celestial legions to descend upon the world.
Queen Azshara leaned gracefully on the terrace of her palace's highest tower, gazing down at the magnificent Well of Eternity.
The deity, Sargeras, the Burning Legion... It sounded good, a perfect match. The deity's wife, Azshara... Thinking this, a hint of intoxicating bliss spread across Azshara's exquisitely beautiful face.
A new era was about to begin.
In the forest outside Blackrock Hold, a surge of chaotic energy tore through space, and two figures fell out, seemingly dazed and disoriented.
"Ugh, Krasus, have we arrived... Is this ten thousand years ago, on the eve of the Great Sundering? I never thought I'd get to participate in the legendary War of the Ancients..." a handsome human said, standing up and dusting off his mage robes.
The latter, known as Krasus, looked around thoughtfully. "The priority is to figure out why Nozdormu sent us back in time... Uh... Wait, I can't transform anymore. I can't revert to my dragon form. What's going on... Oh no, I get it... There were no humans ten thousand years ago, so my past self... was always in dragon form, unable to shapeshift... In the same world, there cannot be two identical dragons..."
Just then, an arrow whizzed past, embedding itself in the ground at their feet, quivering slightly. A small patrol of Night Elf sentinels had discovered the anomaly and rushed over.
"Outsiders, state your intentions. Blackrock Hold does not welcome strangers."
Krasus turned to face the Night Elves aiming their bows and arrows. "We are here to help you. A great disaster is about to befall this world. Please take us to Lord Ravencrest of Blackrock Hold immediately."
