No sooner had those words left his mouth than the Imitation Samehada on Suikazan Fuguki's back came crashing straight down at Karatachi Yagura!
Karatachi Yagura's previously vacant eyes immediately turned razor-sharp. He instantly leaped backward and, with a casual pull, drew a Long Staff Iron Hook adorned with flowers from behind his back, using it to brace against the imitation blade falling from above.
Suikazan Fuguki stood over two meters tall. Being able to wield Samehada naturally meant he had immense innate strength.
Karatachi Yagura, however, was only around one-sixty tall. Even as a Jinchuriki, his physique was not poor, but the difference in weight and build still made blocking the blow extremely difficult.
Especially when the iron staff in Karatachi Yagura's hand collided with the Imitation Samehada, the Mizukage could clearly feel that Suikazan Fuguki's strength had improved by far more than a single level. In almost an instant, Karatachi Yagura was sent flying backward, smashing straight through the wall behind him.
A series of whooshes rang out at once. This was the Mizukage's office, after all; there was naturally no shortage of Anbu and guards lurking in the shadows. Before long, a group of Anbu had surrounded them.
Masked Hancock stood with one hand on her hip, utterly fearless. Vegapunk looked perfectly composed as well. As for Suikazan Fuguki, after launching that first strike, he had already chased after Karatachi Yagura. Several Anbu had failed to stop him.
Kisame glanced around and slightly opened his mouth, unsure what to say. Wasn't this all too sudden?
Though he had sensed something beforehand, wasn't his superior's move a little too abrupt? No plan, just charging in headfirst?
The key was that Suikazan Fuguki probably couldn't beat the Mizukage, could he? Karatachi Yagura had remained firmly seated as Mizukage despite ruling with such brutality, so his own strength was obvious. All kinds of assassination attempts happened once or twice nearly every year, and none of the attackers had ever been below Jonin level.
Suikazan Fuguki was considerably stronger than an ordinary Jonin, but Kisame still had no confidence in his superior.
As for Suikazan Fuguki's claim that the Mizukage was under Genjutsu, Kisame naturally did not believe a word of it. For one thing, Karatachi Yagura was a perfect Jinchuriki. Everyone knew how resistant Jinchuriki were to Genjutsu.
For another, there had been rather a lot of Ninja trying to assassinate Karatachi Yagura over the years. All kinds of messy excuses had long since been shouted out, and claiming he was under Genjutsu was not unheard of.
On the contrary, Kisame thought it was more likely that Suikazan Fuguki had fallen under Genjutsu. His gaze wandered between Vegapunk and Hancock, leaving him unable to decide what to do.
"Roar!"
An enraged roar suddenly rang out, and the expressions of Kisame and the Kirigakure Anbu all changed at once!
"Jinchuriki release? Has Lord Mizukage gone mad? This is the center of Kirigakure!"
Kisame spoke with utter disbelief. Though the faces of the other Anbu were hidden behind masks, their movements revealed their panic and uncertainty.
Why were Jinchuriki called a ninja village's ultimate weapons? There were quite a few Ninja whose combat strength surpassed that of Tailed Beasts. Aside from the Eight Tails and Nine-Tails, the other Tailed Beasts were merely somewhat troublesome opponents for a village's Kage; there were truly few Kage who could not defeat them.
But in terms of sheer destructive power and the harm they could inflict upon weaker Ninja, Tailed Beasts reigned supreme in the Ninja World. Even someone as powerful as the Third Raikage could be surrounded and killed by over ten thousand Iwagakure Ninja. If it were a Tailed Beast instead, without a powerful expert to hold the line or specialized Sealing Techniques, even several times as many Iwagakure Ninja could be easily swept away.
To say nothing else, the Three-Tails inside Karatachi Yagura was already considered fairly weak among the Tailed Beasts. But if it truly went on a rampage, destroying half of Kirigakure and killing over a thousand Kirigakure Ninja would be effortless.
Terrifying, ominous Chakra spread from the direction of Suikazan Fuguki and Karatachi Yagura. In an instant, all of Kirigakure seemed to explode into chaos. Large numbers of Ninja emerged from unknown corners; some ran in this direction, while others simply fled toward the outskirts of the village.
Massive Chakra took shape in the air. A turtle-like monster dozens of meters tall, with three tails, finally fully formed. Its savage Chakra blew the Anbu back again and again like a storm, while only Vegapunk's group of three remained standing steadily.
Kisame's expression was hideous. His already shark-like face had nearly turned bluish-black, while the Anbu beside him seemed to stop breathing. A heavy atmosphere filled the air.
The first to arrive were a brown-haired, green-eyed girl and a one-eyed man whose other eye was covered by a Sealing Eyepatch. The moment they arrived, both froze completely. Raising their heads, they looked toward the Three-Tails' eye.
It was not just them. After looking up at the Three-Tails, many Kirigakure Ninja stood there dumbfounded, as though they had seen something utterly unbelievable.
The Three-Tails, dozens of meters tall, had only one eye. And because of its shell, that eye was difficult to see from most angles.
However, Ninja generally possessed extraordinary senses, and their eyesight far surpassed that of ordinary people. Naturally, quite a few had seen the Three-Tails' blood-red single eye.
The Three-Tails' eye had always been blood-red, so that itself was not surprising. But the tomoe within that single eye changed everyone's expression.
"That is... the Sharingan!" Kisame was the first to recover, shouting, "The Sharingan of Konoha's Uchiha Clan! Lord Mizukage... Karatachi Yagura really has been controlled!"
Kisame's shout seemed to awaken something. Kirigakure immediately descended into chaos. The eyes of many Kirigakure Ninja turned blood-red as they charged directly at the Three-Tails.
The resentment built up from the oppression Kirigakure had suffered for so long had finally found an outlet. In an instant, countless Ninjutsu crashed toward the Three-Tails.
"Roar!!" The Three-Tails let out an enraged roar, its three tails whipping continuously and completely blocking all the Wind Release and Water Release attacks. At the same time, they crushed more than a dozen Kirigakure Ninja who had charged too quickly.
Then, as though it had gone mad, the Tailed Beast opened its mouth and spat out a barrage of water bullets, which came crashing down and smashed apart vast stretches of buildings.
"This can't go on!" The brown-haired girl gritted her teeth and raised three layers of Earth Style Walls, desperately blocking the water bullets. Sweat streamed down her forehead. "The losses are far too great, and we're accomplishing nothing! If we don't organize everyone, there's no way we can stop the Three-Tails!"
