Background / History

Su Zimai is the daughter of Su Ying and Gu Zhuoan. She bears her mother’s surname under her parents’ agreement that daughters would be named Su while sons would be named Gu. Gu Qiye and Gu Wenyu are known to her as her older brothers. Her mother died during the destruction of the Old Jingmai District five years earlier, an event that became central to Su Zimai’s determination to uncover the truth about her family. 19 155

Initially a first-year high-school student, Su Zimai concealed her status as an Exorcist from her family for roughly half a year. Ke Qirui sought her out for her talent and recruited her into the Ghost Train Troupe. 136 366

During the Tokyo Underground Auction, Su Zimai fought Xia Pingzhou and was overwhelmed by the Queen Statue before Black Cocoon intervened and restrained it. She escaped the auction house with Black Cocoon, beginning a wary but increasingly trusting connection with him. 122 123

She later revealed her Exorcist identity and Heavenly Drive to Gu Wenyu, taking him on a flight atop a giant pigeon produced through her magic. She explained that she feared vanishing without a trace and wanted to learn why Su Ying died. 136 137

On the Train Demon, Su Zimai removed Black Cocoon’s mask and recognized Gu Wenyu’s face. She admitted that she had developed feelings for Black Cocoon because he resembled the brother she had admired since childhood. 313

After Gu Wenyu’s apparent death, she mourned him intensely and repeatedly searched for signs that Black Cocoon might still be alive. When Black Cocoon later returned and claimed that he was not truly Gu Wenyu, but an individual with multiple identities, Su Zimai ultimately accepted him as her brother despite the deception. 366 410
