The Forgotten Squad was a team that had lost its captain for various reasons. With no channel to communicate upward, they had been forgotten in the administrative records. They survived entirely by taking missions, yet had no reputation whatsoever, to the point that those in power did not even know such a team existed.
Compared to them, even Might Duy, the perennial genin, had it better.
At least someone still knew Might Duy and wanted him to retire.
For a team like this to know nothing about the basic training methods for genin was not surprising... my ass!
Uchiha Yu looked at Obito and asked in disbelief, "Obito, even if you don't have a captain, what about you? How could you not know how to train by tree climbing and water walking? Everyone in the clan has to learn that."
"Huh? That's a thing?"
Seeing Uchiha Obito standing there blankly, Uchiha Yu completely lost interest in continuing the conversation. He suddenly reached out and scooped up a pure white cat that appeared in his hand.
The three genin cried out together, "Ah, it's the white cat we were looking for!"
"Training in ninjutsu can do that too? That's incredible..."
He gently stroked the frightened white cat to calm it down. Once it had settled, he handed it to Rin beside him.
"Don't let Obito hold the mission target again..."
"Remember to have him return to the Uchiha clan to study. Otherwise, all of you will be held back..."
"Thank you." Holding the white cat, Rin bowed deeply. "Thank you so much. You really are a good person!"
Uchiha Yu: "..."
Why do I dislike that phrase so much?
He said nothing more. After giving a slight nod, he left on his own.
Once Uchiha Yu had gone far away, the dispirited Obito immediately perked up. He snorted indignantly. "That guy hits me every time he sees me. He's not friendly at all."
Rin said unhappily, "Obito! He helped us catch the cat. It's very inappropriate for you to say that."
Obito muttered a quiet rebuttal, "Hmph, it was just catching a cat. I could have caught it myself. I didn't need his help."
"He stopped you from rushing into the shopping street. Otherwise, you would have caused a huge disaster!"
"I wouldn't have! I'm an Uchiha."
"That chunin was an Uchiha too, wasn't he?"
"He... he was, I guess..."
"Hmph. Anyway, let's go turn in the mission first."
"Okay."
The nameless ordinary genin: "..."
The boy and girl resumed their noisy argument as if no one else existed. The other genin could only move as far away from them as possible. No one noticed that Uchiha Yu had left with his eyes closed.
Ha, I found them after all. White Zetsu.
"Hey, Uchiha Yu is also one of Lord Madara's targets, right? Why aren't we bothering with him now?"
"Idiot, Lord Madara asked us to find kind Uchiha. This one is only lazy. There isn't even the slightest hint of kindness about him when he fights or patrols."
"That's true. He says nice things, but when he makes a move, he's dark and ruthless. He's really bad."
"Hurry up. We can't let Obito leave our sight, or Lord Madara will definitely kill us. Then we'll never get to experience what taking a dump feels like."
"Right, right. If Lord Madara gets angry, we're done for."
Naturally, Uchiha Yu did not hear the conversation between the White Zetsu. He had merely caught sight of the fleeting traces of White Zetsu through the perception of the Omniscient Mind's Eye.
The range of the Omniscient Mind's Eye is too small. I can't counter White Zetsu's surveillance like this, but at least I'll be able to keep the house safe in the future.
That way, I can do more things at home instead of having to hold myself back as I did before.
After absorbing the Heart Monkey, both Precognition and the Omniscient Mind's Eye have clearly grown stronger. There's hope now. One day, I'll drive White Zetsu away, and perhaps I can even try getting my hands on them later.
But for now, I should focus on training my body.
Only a strong body can bear an ever-growing mind, and it will also allow me to awaken the Mangekyo sooner.
Uchiha Yu opened his eyes, and a trace of impatience showed in his black pupils.
The Third Shinobi World War had already begun, but the ninja villages had yet to formally declare war. None of the Five Great Ninja Villages had entered the fray. They sent small numbers of ninja disguised as wandering ninja, or mobilized the agents under their control, to clash in the buffer nations between them and probe one another's capabilities.
The scale and casualty rates of the previous two Ninja World Wars had been too terrifying. Everyone had been frightened by them, leaving no one willing to start a war first for fear that a single misstep would make them the target of a joint assault.
The other four great ninja villages could not withstand sieges from two opponents at once, because Konoha bordered every ninja village.
And Konoha had been besieged in every major war, often fighting on three or four fronts simultaneously. It had truly been beaten into fearing war.
Without question, such a fragile balance could not last.
As a transmigrator, Uchiha Yu knew that the disappearance of the Third Kazekage would become the fuse that ignited the full-scale Third Shinobi World War. It would likely happen this year or next.
"If only I could sense Natural Energy sooner and complete Foundation Establishment three years early."
"Time to hurry."
Uchiha Yu left home at five every morning and ran a lap along Konoha's outer wall.
After completing his physical training and returning home, Uchiha Yu began his stance training, alternating between still stances and moving stances until noon. Then he cooked lunch and ate with Miwa Yashi.
His afternoons were devoted to training in combat techniques, weapons, and throwing techniques.
At night, while visibility was poor, he practiced ninjutsu and spells.
He called the techniques he used through Natural Energy Daoist Arts, to distinguish them from so-called Sage Techniques.
Uchiha Yu lived an extremely low-key life. Yet the fact that Konoha had gained another training fanatic was known only to the father-and-son pair of Might Duy and Might Guy.
But his training results at the Foundation Establishment stage were outstanding. His physical abilities rose rapidly, and he ran faster and faster. Two weeks later, he had no choice but to run two laps around Konoha in order to ensure that his physical training lasted no less than three hours.
But it came at a cost.
After eating her fill, Miwa Yashi lay sprawled across the table, admiring the "spectacle" of Uchiha Yu wolfing down food. She clicked her tongue in amazement.
"Tut, tut, tut. This is unbelievable. So many days have passed, and I still can't get used to it. How can a person eat so much?"
Uchiha Yu swallowed the meat in his mouth and said with a smile, "If you train hard, naturally you need to eat more."
"Is this just eating more? That's a whole fifty pounds of meat—fifty pounds, meow!"
"Greedy cat, are you jealous? Do you think your appetite is too small?"
"N-no, I'm not jealous, meow..."
"Actually, you can do it too."
"Meow? How?"
"Train with me and increase the intensity..."
"No! Last time, I only followed along halfway before I was so tired I saw my great-grandma. Absolutely not, meow!"
"You can take off the weights."
"No, no means no. Even without weights, no. I'm a Ninja Cat, not a stupid dog!"
"Hehe, watching me eat so much meat every time, are you really not jealous?"
"Hmph!"
The Tabby Cat's eyes rolled, and she suddenly asked, "Yu, you bought the meat with money, right?"
Uchiha Yu froze for a moment before answering, "Of course I bought it. You can't hunt in the village."
"Then how many more days can your money afford to feed you, meow?"
"..."
"You don't need to worry about money, cat."
