Background

Yu's father was killed in action near the end of the Second Shinobi World War. Out of guilt, his father's captain accepted the newly graduated Yu into his squad and protected him for two years. Yu later spent six years as a low-ranking patrol officer in Konoha's Military Police Force. 3

At the Ninja Academy, Yu was the undisputed top student. He refused early graduation despite the trend among his classmates, a decision for which many classmates later became grateful when early graduates were endangered by the war. 12

As a patrol officer, Yu built a positive reputation with both Uchiha clansmen and ordinary villagers. He assisted elderly residents with errands and heavy labor, helped financially struggling residents navigate employment and business paperwork, and regularly cleaned up the problems caused by Obito's misguided attempts at good deeds. 6 His expulsion from the Military Police Force severely damaged both the force's and the Uchiha clan's public standing. 6

After beginning cultivation, Yu realized that his abnormal chakra reserves, healing ability, and evolving body could expose secrets dangerous enough to threaten his life. He therefore concealed his progress while building a physical, spiritual, and political foundation for his survival. 16 24

Personality

Yu presents himself as polite, useful, and easygoing, particularly around ordinary Konoha residents. He is analytical, cautious, and intensely protective of his secrets.
