A week passed in the blink of an eye, and Jay's new college life had more or less settled into a routine.

There were not many classes in the first semester, only a handful in total each week, so he still had plenty of free time overall. Jay had no habit of sleeping in, and aside from attending class, he spent most of his time working his part-time job as a superhero. As for his new roommate, Mike, he spent most of every day nestled beneath warm blankets.

Jay had only jokingly told his mom that he hoped for a simple-minded roommate who could be bought over with a bag of chips, but reality had unexpectedly turned out to be pretty close. Based on his observations over the past week, Jay discovered that his new roommate was practically a single-celled organism—hot-blooded and quick-tempered. His blazing enthusiasm was both his greatest strength and his greatest flaw.

Naturally, coursework was no problem for Jay. His brain could instantly process enormous amounts of information. With just one second to skim through a book, he could imprint every word clearly into the depths of his mind, never needing to worry about forgetting it. Most professors had formed quite a favorable impression of him after the first class, generally categorizing Jay as a diligent student who had done plenty of preparation beforehand. Little did they know that Jay had not even touched the textbook before the bell rang. Besides, he spent most of class in a daze anyway.
