Before today, Jay would never have imagined that Kara Zor-El—the last daughter of Krypton, Earth's great Supergirl—could scream in fright at the fake scares of an amusement park attraction.

When they bought tickets and joined the long line outside the haunted house, Kara repeatedly stressed that they were not allowed to use any superpowers, because that would undoubtedly destroy all the fun. But Jay had not expected her to truly follow through. Inside the pitch-black haunted house, filled with strangely colored fog, he could clearly hear Kara's erratic heartbeat and pulse. She clung tightly to his arm the entire time, as though afraid he might slip away. Every time an employee dressed as a monster suddenly jumped out, she screamed in fright, proving that she had not cheated by using her super vision to scout ahead.

But compared to his girlfriend, Jay was more worried about everyone else's safety. Nothing else was needed—if Kara carelessly let out an ultrasonic scream, it would be enough to overturn the entire facility.

Still, it seemed that after living on Earth for so long, her control over her powers had reached the point where she could use and restrain them at will. Though she had gone pale with fright, she had not lost control in the slightest, and Jay could not help admiring her from the bottom of his heart. When they left the haunted house, she was still clutching Jay's arm tightly, breathing lightly, but her cheeks were rosy and she looked delighted.

"Two ice creams. One strawberry, one chocolate."

Jay took the two ice creams from the vendor and handed the chocolate one to Kara. She stuck out her pink tongue and took a lick, flashing a brilliant smile like that of an eight-year-old girl.
