Hagrid's birthday was December 6, 1928, two years younger than Tom Riddle, who had been born in 1926 and later became Voldemort. By human standards, even if he was not considering immortality like Voldemort, it was about time he considered retirement.

"Look!" Hagrid said happily. "I found a way to make Fluffy fall asleep."

Pomona looked at Fluffy, snoring away in the Forbidden Forest vegetable garden. She clearly remembered that it had been raised here to guard the place. If it was sleeping this soundly, what exactly was it guarding?

"Congratulations, Hagrid!" Liz Turt said excitedly to him.

"Brilliant," Hagrid sighed. "I can finally get a good night's sleep."

Pomona felt a little sorry for Hagrid, because this Cerberus truly seemed to exist solely to torment people. Whenever Hagrid and Fang were about to sleep, it would bounce about everywhere. Otherwise, it would wreck things, chewing up the belongings in the hut.

But now Hagrid had found a way to make Fluffy sleep: music. Ben Cooper's music box had unexpectedly come in handy. The ghost living in the music box had already arrived at Hogwarts and joined the other ghosts.

Though he was nearly sixty, Hagrid's hair and beard were still black. His brother looked even younger, which meant Hagrid was still a young adult among half-blood Giants, while his brother was still an immature child. It was far too early to talk about retirement.

"All right, get to work!" Pomona said, scattering the first batch of experimental dragon dung fertilizer across the fields.

Liz agreed. She and Hagrid each pushed a wheelbarrow, spreading vermiculite and perlite into the soil.

Liz wore a diamond ring with a gold setting. Pomona had found it by following a dragonfly to a long-unused cabinet in the library. It could produce a Lumos spell.
