Background / History

Gu Xun'er was sent by Gu Yuan to the Xiao Family both to obtain the Tuoshe Ancient Emperor Jade and to give her a happy childhood. During her time with the Xiao Family, she formed a deep attachment to Xiao Yan, whose care she regarded as uniquely sincere compared with the treatment she received within the Gu Clan 9 199.

Her devotion to Xiao Yan repeatedly conflicts with her obligations to the Gu Clan. When Huo Xuan captures Xiao Yan, Xun'er seeks his release, offering the Emperor Seal Technique and later promising either a top-five Heavenly Flame or a Ninth Grade Golden Pill. She struggles with whether to surrender the Golden Emperor Sky Burning Flame, fearing the Gu Clan’s response 36 57. She later sends Huo Xuan a Fire Spirit Flame Pill and asks him to prolong Xiao Yan’s life and stop torturing him 70.

Her feud with Huo Xuan escalates after Xiao Yan is refined into the puppet Yan Zun. Xun'er vows revenge, attempts to pressure Huo Xuan with her Heavenly Flame, challenges Huo Zhi to strike indirectly at him, and later attacks Huo Xuan with the Four Seals Overlay 69 83 165 166.

At her coming-of-age ceremony, Xun'er’s bloodline test reveals a God Grade Bloodline. The Star Plate shatters beneath its power, and the Gu Clan grants her the Seven-Colored Clan Tattoo 164 165. Her loyalty is accompanied by determination and vindictiveness. She openly identifies Huo Xuan as her great enemy, vows to kill him, and pursues strength specifically to exceed him 69 197 240. She can also be politically calculating: while engaged to Lei Dong, she cultivates public closeness with him to reinforce the Gu–Lei alliance 159.

Her pursuit of power increasingly becomes self-destructive. She uses large quantities of pills to accelerate cultivation, leaving her frail and physically unstable despite her progress 242 243.
