It Can't Be That Coincidental, Can It?
An afternoon at Killer Lake.
The people by the lake divided into two circles, one large and one small.
The Wolf School's leader, Soi, and Vera were right next to Killer Lake, separated from the outside world by a semi-transparent, pale red shield.
They would sometimes talk intimately, and then suddenly separate, as if they were having a tiff.
The larger circle consists of the six Witcher Master.
They chatted about what they had seen and heard throughout the year, occasionally discussing the performance of their apprentices.
Although the topics differ, every Witcher Master occasionally glances at that small circle.
"Vesemir, what is the relationship between that apprentice named Ailin and Lady Vesemir?"
The old witcher with gray hair withdrew his gaze and asked curiously:
"If I heard correctly, Lady Vesemir's attempt to rush into the Trial of the Mountains was to save him, wasn't it?"
Vesemir's gaze remained fixed on the direction of Killer Lake.
Unlike other Witcher Master, he couldn't detach himself and casually discuss the life and death of several Witcher Apprentices.
Ever since Vesemir mentioned that the Old Spearhead might go berserk due to hunger, Vesemir has never smiled again.
However, upon hearing the old Witcher Master's question, he suppressed his unease and turned to answer:
"That should be true."
"After the Trial of Grasses, Ailin has been studying alchemy with Lady Vesemir."
After a pause, Vesemir continued:
"I think this is why Ailin was able to create the Killer Whale potion."
The old witcher with gray hair nodded slightly.
He also knew that some Sorceress would do unconventional things because of their innate and nowhere-to-place maternal instincts.
Vesemir simply took on a witcher apprentice to teach alchemy; nothing special.
but.
"As expected of Lady Vesemir, she can produce such a highly skilled apprentice in potion making in just half a month of teaching."
After a moment of reflection, the old witcher's expression suddenly turned somber.
"Lady Vesemir, this is just a case of being too concerned to think clearly!"
"How can the trials of the Witcher be interfered with so easily?"
"What a pity that such an excellent witcher apprentice would encounter such a situation."
The old witcher clicked his tongue, his weathered face filled with regret.
You could tell from his tone that he had no hope for Ailin's success in the Trial of the Mountains.
In fact.
He didn't even think that any of the apprentices participating in the trial would survive the Old Spearhead's attack.
The old Witcher waiting here is just a habit.
It could also be waiting for a miracle.
He wasn't sure which point it was, nor did he want to delve into it.
Anyway, the old Witcher's time is worthless.
"Ailin and the others will pass the Trial of the Mountains!"
The white-haired witcher paused for a moment upon hearing this.
The expression on Vesemir's face was serious and firm, as if he firmly believed in his judgment.
Or perhaps he simply refused to believe that the ominous tone lurking in the old witcher's voice could actually come to pass.
"Vesemir, do not remember the apprentice's name."
The old Witcher said solemnly.
Seeing that Vesemir's expression remained unchanged, he sighed, shook his head, and walked toward another group of witchers.
At this moment.
"Snap~ Snap~ Snap~"
A demon hunter carrying two swords walked from afar, his feet sinking into the thick snow.
"Leto!"
What brings you here?
Vesemir's cry of surprise drew the attention of the other Witcher Master.
As Leto approached, the Witcher Master Dante scrutinized his attire.
From a distance, he only appeared disheveled and pale.
As he slowly approached, the Witcher Master noticed faint red marks on Leto's exposed skin.
As you get closer, you can also smell the cheap perfume on him.
Witcher Master Dante asked, puzzled:
"Leto... Leto, what happened to you... you were just dragged off the bed at the Pink Bar?"
"When did a place like this appear at the Ancient Sea Fortress?"
Upon hearing this, Leto's face darkened, and before he could even offer a rebuttal, he was suddenly pulled aside by Vesemir.
"Leto, what's wrong with you?" Vesemir glanced furtively at Killer Lake.
The Sorceress and the Chief of the School of the Wolf had their backs to them.
then.
Vesemir pulled Leto behind a larch tree and urged him in a low voice:
"Quickly, get out of here before Lady Vesemir notices you!"
Leto tugged at his coat helplessly, only to have it Cotton Armor again by Vesemir, and calmly said:
"No need, it was Lady Vesemir who brought me back."
"Ah?"
Vesemir's mouth dropped open, then he denied it with surprise and uncertainty:
"Wait a minute, how did Lady Vesemir know where you were?"
"This scent is..." Vesemir paused, sniffed, and then leaned closer to sniff, his face full of surprise, "How did you get so far?"
"Wait, you ran so far, how did Lady Vesemir find you?"
"Did you tell Ailin in private where you went?"
Leto sighed helplessly, his two brown cat eyes reflecting a complex mix of emotions.
He looked at Vesemir intently, then straightened his clothes, sighed, and then, word by word, spoke softly but forcefully through gritted teeth:
"Master Vesemir!"
Is there any possibility?
"It wasn't the Witcher apprentice, Ailin, who revealed my whereabouts."
The Witcher Master felt a chill run down his spine as Leto stared at him, sensing something was amiss, but he still mustered the courage to ask:
"Then... who could it be?"
The Witcher Leto gave Vesemir another deep look and said:
"It's probably some Witcher Master."
"I'm just an ordinary witcher, and I wouldn't dare to casually address the masters by their names..."
"I'm afraid that next time, at the crucial moment, I'll be dragged out of bed again, and before I can even get dressed and say goodbye to the beautiful girls, I'll be sent into three portals in a row..."
"Finally, they had to endure the Witcher's portal syndrome in the heavy snow, making their way step by step to Kaer Morhen, and then to Killer Lake..."
"Cough cough~"
Hearing these plaintive words and being stared at by even more plaintive eyes, Vesemir couldn't help but cough twice, interrupting Leto's continuous lamentations.
Even the most foolish person would understand at this point who the Witcher Master Leto was referring to was.
Vesemir did indeed have several contacts with Lady Vesemir recently.
So he turned his head to look at the distant snow-capped mountains and changed the subject:
"By the way... why did Lady Vesemir send you back?"
"Did you ask for this yourself?"
"How is this possible!" Leto couldn't help but exclaim.
Before he finished speaking, he immediately glanced at the semi-transparent, pale red protective shield by the Killer Lake and whispered:
"Lady Vesemir has sent me to witness Ailin's Trial of the Mountains..."
"To be honest, there's no need for that at all. How could a natural-born witcher like Ailin possibly fail the trial..."
"Unless he's unlucky enough to run into Old Spearhead getting up for breakfast..."
"But how could that be, don't you think, Vesemir ..."
"Vesemir?"
Leto's rambling gradually subsided as he saw Vesemir's face slowly darken.
Leto's heart skipped a beat, and he thought to himself:
"Could it be such a coincidence?"
"Is it really possible that Ailin would run into Old Spearhead having breakfast?"
