Don't Make Things Worse!
"That kid Ailin is really unlucky!"
After listening to Vesemir's general description of the events leading up to it, Leto couldn't help but sigh.
Then both of them fell silent.
After a moment, Leto came to his senses, patted Vesemir on the shoulder, and comforted him:
"Even if Old Spearhead were awake, he wouldn't necessarily be dead to the apprentices."
"Ailin is a born witcher, how could he not even pass the Trial of the Mountains?"
Vesemir smiled slightly and nodded.
He understood what Leto meant: if Old Spearhead were awake, Ailin would naturally be the most likely to escape.
The Trial of the Mountains are designed to select apprentices who are suitable to become Witchers.
How could they possibly exclude someone as exceptionally talented Ailin?
Or, is there really a need for the trials that will filter out Ailin?
Thinking of this, Vesemir shook his head and sighed.
Seeing that the Witcher Master still looked very down, Leto changed the subject.
He glanced in the direction of the Sorceress and said something out of the blue:
"How enviable!"
Vesemir paused for a moment upon hearing this, and asked:
"What are you envious of?"
"I envy Ailin, to have such a good relationship with Lady Vesemir," Leto said.
His words of comfort were somewhat effective.
Those suited to be apprentices of the Witcher will surely pass the trials.
This is the basis for the existence of the Trial of the Mountains.
So the Witcher Master calmed himself down and joked:
"What, you want to learn alchemy too?"
Leto shook his head sharply and said:
"I am allergic to paper with printed text."
"I'd rather be killed than learn something as tedious as alchemy."
"So Ailin is really amazing. I wouldn't have wanted to learn such a boring thing even if he begged me, but he actually asked to do it himself."
"No wonder Lady Vesemir likes him so much..."
Vesemir nodded.
Although Ailin was exceptionally talented, he never slacked off during the past month and actively prepared for the Trial of the Mountains.
The King of Ice almost lost his life in the nameless cave in Blue Mountain.
But in the days that followed, Ailin acted as if nothing had happened and went about hunting water ghosts in Kaer Morhen as usual.
"Eh~"
"Would his chances of passing the Trial of the Mountains have been much higher if he hadn't gone to learn alchemy from Lady Vesemir...?"
Vesemir sighed again, muttering to himself, and inadvertently blurted out his innermost thoughts.
Leto quickly reached out and covered his mouth, saying:
"How can you be so outspoken? Do you want to be dragged out of bed too?"
"I don't mind..."
Seeing Leto disheveled and recounting his harrowing experience of being brought here, Vesemir smiled bitterly, about to say something.
suddenly.
He raised his hand to rub his eyes and got up from the larch tree he was leaning against.
"What's wrong, Vesemir?"
Leto, who was complaining, paused for a moment, then turned around and looked in the direction of the Witcher Master's gaze.
The snow stopped at noon.
However, the heavy snow that lasted for several days turned the area Killer Lake into pure white.
Several small, somewhat overlapping black dots slowly moved toward the group from the distant snow-capped mountains.
That is the end point of the Trial of the Mountains, another path to the Circle of Elements.
"Look at Vesemir, I told you they were alright, weren't they?"
A smile curved Leto's lips, and Vesemir also smiled with satisfaction.
The Sorceress waved her hand to remove the soundproof barrier and couldn't help but take a few steps forward towards the witcher apprentices.
The other Witcher Master also looked on in surprise and whispered among themselves.
"It seems this batch of apprentices is quite lucky. Even though Old Spearhead was hungry, they still managed to catch him during his hibernation period."
The old Witcher Master, with his gray hair, stroked his equally gray beard and sighed with a smile.
At Killer Lake, everyone was in high spirits.
Until those few small black dots slowly grew larger in my field of vision.
They then realized that there seemed to be a problem with the number of people.
"Aren't there four apprentices participating in the trial?"
Leto turned and asked.
Vesemir's smile gradually froze as he stared intently at the black dots, offering no reply.
"Smack!"
A snap of the fingers.
"Buzz~ Buzz~ Buzz..."
The chests of all the witchers on the Killer Lake trembled violently.
A gust of wind followed, blowing the snow on the ground into the air.
The thick snow fog instantly obscured everyone's vision.
A moment later.
The snow-white frost and mist dissipated.
As everyone focused their gaze, three small figures gradually became clear in front of them.
The Sorceress used magic to teleport them all over from a distance.
Startled, the witcher apprentices stood up and looked around.
Upon seeing Vesemir, Huus's face showed a mixture of joy and worry, and he shouted:
"Master Vesemir, hurry... hurry and save Ailin."
"He single-handedly held off the Cyclops so that we could leave safely!"
"What!"
Before Huus could react, a fair and delicate face suddenly appeared before him.
"This must be the legendary Lady Vesemir!"
Huus was secretly delighted. He knew that Ailin and this Sorceress had a good relationship, and he was about to explain the whole story again.
Unexpectedly, the Sorceress, with her frosty expression, merely glanced at him and nodded slightly, showing no intention of listening to the details.
Instead, he quickly took two steps back and turned to leave.
However, the chief, who had noticed something, stopped him.
"Calm down, Vesemir!"
"Don't forget how all of this happened!"
"Stop making things worse!"
"Phew~"
The moist vapor condenses into a cloud of white mist the moment it leaves the mouth.
Ailin shrugged and lifted his head, which had slumped slightly due to blood and oil.
Old Spearhead's hair, after all, wasn't a rope specifically designed for tying things up.
These two trophies tend to slide to one side as the Witcher apprentice moves around.
Add to that the knee-deep snow and the biting cold wind.
The journey of a Witcher apprentice is exceptionally difficult.
"Snap~ Snap~ Snap~"
As he climbed the hill step by step and rounded a corner, the Witcher Apprentice suddenly frowned.
This place is exactly the same as the place we just passed through.
Thick snow, low shrubs, and bare, unnamed hardy trees bent over by the weight of the snow.
What really made Ailin frown were the irregular snow pits on the ground.
"This looks like... it was made by being hit by a rock?"
The Witcher apprentice hid around the corner and pondered for a moment.
"It can only be those Rock Troll."
But hadn't he already warned Huus and the others?
Rock Troll so honest and simple-minded. Although they have some intelligence, they are not many monsters. They can be easily coaxed.
"Could it be that these monsters are different from those in the game? Are they more aggressive than those in the game's storyline?"
As he pondered, the Witcher Apprentice's expression grew increasingly solemn.
Since this world doesn't even have the Witcher's potions and Sword Oil, and even the Ancient Ones could disappear in the prophecy.
It seems reasonable that the Rock Troll have become more aggressive.
"Damn it! How did we end up forcing the original plot into this?"
"Huus, Bont, and Fred, will they be alright?"
Ailin was worried and was about to activate his Tracking skill to find out where the three of them were.
Suddenly, a low, indistinct voice came from the blind spot:
"... Big Stone... Little Stone... the troll smells a strange smell... the troll smells a strange smell..."
