Ailin Returns
As Vesemir contemplated life, the scene within the pale red bubble was different from what the Witcher Master had imagined.
Although the Sorceress and the chief had their backs to everyone and had activated soundproofing magic, they remained seated.
But there was no sound inside the bubble, at least no sound of conversation.
"Pat-pat~ Pat-pat~"
Warm water droplets fell on the snow, melting it and creating small holes.
The Sorceress leaned against a larch tree, her head bowed.
The sky was dark and obscured by clouds, making it impossible to see the expression on her face.
The Chief of the School of the Wolf also lowered his head, and only after hearing the sound of tears falling did he come back to his senses and look at the Sorceress.
"Snap~ Snap~ Snap~"
Even the softest footsteps couldn't escape the Sorceress's notice.
"Don't touch me!"
A light, airy voice seeped out from her dark red hair.
The chief, who had originally intended to put his hand on her shoulder, paused and then withdrew it.
"Wei..."
Hearing the familiar voice, the familiar tone, and the familiar nickname, the Sorceress looked up abruptly as if startled.
On her pale, pretty face, her eyeliner was wet with tears, leaving two black tear streaks.
Disheveled yet fierce.
She glared fiercely at the chief:
"Stop talking to me about the Child of Miracle!"
"Ailin alone could never survive against Cyclops..."
"Vesemir..." The chief was about to explain when he was interrupted again.
The Sorceress seemed to have lost control, cursing loudly, and the magic around her surged and churned with her anger.
The pale red soundproofing bubbles rippled under the influence of this magic, trembling incessantly as if they were alive and filled with fear.
"I don't know what kind of spell I was under, but I actually believed what you and that charlatan said..."
"Ailin is not a Child of Miracle at all; he's just an ordinary human child..."
"Vesemir, calm down!" The chief's tone became serious.
The ground was trembling slightly, and large patches of snow were slowly rising from the ground.
Nature responded to the Sorceress's anger.
"I actually believed the lies of you devils and let my child suffer such torment..."
"Once I retrieve my child's remains, I'll kill that charlatan..."
"Soyer Henrietta, I'm going to pick up Ailin and take her home. Are you going to stop me?"
The whites of the Sorceress's eyes, like her pupils, had turned completely red.
In an instant.
A fierce wind howled around her, and flames erupted in the void, melting the snow on the ground and floating in the sky.
At this moment, the elemental magic in the atmosphere was her most devout servant, at her command.
"Pop~"
The pale pink bubble burst suddenly, just like a real soap bubble, due to the magical force of the violent shaking.
"Buzz~ Buzz~ Buzz~"
Almost simultaneously, a buzzing sound rang out from the chests of all the witchers present.
The School Emblem was frantically warning their master.
However, such intense magical fluctuations could be sensed even by ordinary witchers, without the badge.
"Clang!"
The Witcher Master were so agitated that their hair stood on end, and they instinctively drew their silver swords from their backs.
"Lady Vesemir!"
They shouted, hoping the Sorceress would calm down.
Meanwhile, the Witcher Master quickly surrounded the Chief and the Sorceress.
As some of the most powerful sorcerers in the northern kingdoms, the Sorceress ' rage made them feel as if they were facing a legendary dragon.
Even though the weapons in their hands were divine weapons meticulously collected and forged over hundreds of years, the Witcher Master had no confidence whatsoever.
However, this will not deter them.
The School of the Wolf considers itself the orthodox school of the Witcher Conclave.
Stubbornness is both a strength and a weakness of the Wolf School Witcher faction.
The Witcher Master are the most outstanding and also the most stubborn members of the School of the Wolf.
They were willing to risk their lives to defend the traditions of the Witcher Conclave.
The most fundamental and important aspect of tradition is that the apprentice's trials must not be interfered with!
Without a doubt.
The Sorceress violated their taboo.
Even with six weapons pointed at her, the Sorceress remained unfazed, staring directly at the chief and awaiting his reply.
Once she makes up her mind, the only person here worthy of her serious attention is the Chief of the School of the Wolf.
The chief's long hair was blown about by the strong wind.
He squinted, his dark golden Cat Eyes shrinking into a vertical line as he stared directly into Vesemir's inhuman pupils.
Unlike when the apprentices first returned, the Sorceress were safe even if they took out the potion.
But now that she's in this state, it means she's made up her mind that she'll find Ailin even if it means killing everyone in front of her and around her.
The chief sighed, reached back with his right hand, and drew his steel sword.
"Vesemir, I still believe Ailin is not dead..."
Seeing that the Sorceress's expression remained unchanged, he swallowed the rest of his words.
Then, he concentrated and held his breath, gripping the sword at mid-section.
For a moment, the air seemed to freeze.
At Killer Lake, tensions are high.
A chaotic battle could break out at any moment.
Although Vesemir wielded a sword like other witchers, he genuinely did not want to be enemies with the Sorceress.
He could find no reason to be hostile, and after learning that Ailin had "died" at the hands of the Cyclops, he began to doubt the necessity of the trials and traditions.
"Eh~"
Vesemir sighed.
How could Ailin have died in the Trial of the Mountains?
He turned his head to look at the place where the apprentices were being tested, the final resting place of Ailin's soul.
"Huh~"
The next instant, he seemed to see a black dot slowly moving down the snow-covered mountain.
Vesemir rubbed his eyes subconsciously.
There really is a dark spot moving. Killer Lake is a remote place, so who else could that dark spot be but Ailin?
"Etc!"
"Ailin didn't die, he's back!"
Upon hearing this, the Sorceress, without having time to consider whether it was true or false, looked in the direction of the voice.
really.
On the mountain path where the apprentices had finished their trials, a black dot was slowly approaching the Killer Lake.
"Smack!"
A snap of the fingers.
A bronze mirror appeared before everyone's eyes.
The mirror was pure white, and no human figure could be seen.
However, as the Witcher's badge vibrated, the bronze mirror began to shake rapidly.
A dirty, youthful face gradually emerged from the pure white background.
It was Ailin.
"Smack!"
Another snap of the fingers.
The black tear stains on the Sorceress's face disappeared, and her makeup returned to its exquisite state.
She then scanned the tense crowd and glanced at the chief.
"Cough~"
The chief conscientiously sheathed his sword and coughed lightly.
The demon hunters were jolted from the shock of the "Death" apprentice's return. Following the sound, they saw the chief priest smiling and gesturing, and then glanced at the Sorceress seemed to be serene and unperturbed as if nothing had happened.
After exchanging glances, they said nothing and casually put their weapons away.
As the tense moment ended, most of the Witcher Master felt a sense of absurdity.
"The battle that nearly caused them heavy casualties began and ended because of a witcher apprentice."
A moment later.
As the black dot slowly grew larger, the witchers gradually realized that the shape of the black dot seemed a bit off.
Leto tilted his head and asked directly:
"Vesemir, is Ailin carrying something strange?"
