Who Is Ailin?
After the ceremony, the Witcher Master left.
Vesemir, Leto, the Sorceress, and the former witcher apprentices all stayed behind.
They were to help Ailin bring the Old Spearhead and the corpse of the Drowners King back to Kaer Morhen.
"Smack!"
A snap of the fingers.
The wind rises over Killer Lake, stirring up ripples on its calm surface.
The golden sunlight slanted across the lake, making it shimmer and sparkle.
With the wind blowing just right, a small boat with its white sail billowing carried Ailin and the others, and soon arrived at Old Spearhead's cave.
"Ah!"
As soon as the small boat docked, Fred, who was sitting at the bow, couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.
The winter sun was blocked by the towering mountain walls, and the dim cave looked menacing and terrifying in the shadows.
In the shadows, two enormous mountains of flesh were embedded together, their surfaces almost entirely devoid of intact skin, making it impossible to discern where the boundary lay.
Looking around, there was blood everywhere, and mutilated flesh and blood smeared wantonly on the ground.
This is probably what a cult's ritual scene looks like.
Perhaps because both the Drowners King and the Old Spearhead are large monsters, the blood on the ground did not congeal even though the temperature was very low.
"Thud!"
Leto stepped off the small boat and landed in a pool of blood.
Bright red, sticky blood splattered on his leather boots, but he didn't care at all.
The scene before him stunned him so much that he couldn't spare any attention.
"My God! It's unimaginable how intense the fighting must have been to create such a sight." Leto exclaimed, his mouth agape in astonishment.
Even more unimaginable is how Ailin, as the weakest party, not only survived such a fierce battle but also killed these two powerful monsters.
Looking only at the two heads that Ailin carried to the Killer Lake, one could not feel the oppressive aura and the insignificance brought about by the difference in size.
Although it was somewhat embarrassing, the sight before him, coupled with the oppressive aura emanating from the two mountains of flesh, made his thighs feel slightly weak.
He has been a witcher for over thirty years.
If it can exude such a powerful aura even in death, how much more so when it's alive?
Unbelievable!
It's unbelievable!
Leto turned around, looking at Ailin with disbelief, and couldn't help but ask:
"Ailin, aren't you afraid?"
The shock felt by the others was similar.
Vesemir stared blankly at the mountain of bright red flesh, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
Although he is known as Witcher Master, he has actually received very few hunting commissions for large monsters in recent years.
Not to mention two large monsters together.
The adoration in Hughes', Bont's, and Fred's eyes was even stronger.
Only Sorceress.
Although she remained on the boat without disembarking, a hint of heartache flickered in her expression as she looked around.
Hearing Leto's question, Ailin simply smiled, shook his head, and remained silent.
There is some fear, of course, but everything is within the plan.
Contrary to their expectations, the Drowners King was an accomplice he had summoned.
He decides when and where he appears, so what's so scary about that?
Besides, if we don't take a gamble now, are we going to wait until the defense of Kaer Morhen to do so?
Thinking about the great battle to come, the sense of urgency that had been weakened by the trials pressed down on my heart again.
Ailin was eager to return and use the spoils from the Drowners King and Old Spearhead to further enhance his strength.
then.
He shook his head, looked at Vesemir, and said:
"Master Vesemir, let's quickly process the materials from these two monsters and then return to the castle."
Moving the Drowners King and the Old Spearhead back directly is not very realistic.
Given the distance, we can just handle it on-site and bring the important parts back.
Seeing that Ailin was unwilling to talk about his feelings at the time, and after glancing at the horrific scene in front of him, Vesemir assumed that he was traumatized by the fight.
So he patted Ailin on the shoulder and walked toward the two mountains of flesh.
Just then, the Sorceress suddenly spoke.
"No need, I'll do it."
Before he could finish speaking, Ailin and the others had no time to turn around.
"Smack!"
With a snap of his fingers, the badge vibrated violently.
The two mounds of flesh in the pool of blood trembled slightly before slowly sinking.
It's as if they're being swallowed by a swamp.
Upon closer inspection, a dark red light could be faintly seen emanating from beneath the flesh of the Drowners King and the Old Spearhead.
Before long, the corpse that had given even the Witcher Master a headache disappeared from everyone's sight.
Suddenly, silence fell over the cave of the Old Spearhead.
A moment later, a clear, cold female voice suddenly rang out in the empty space.
"Ailin!"
"Compared to swords and blades, doesn't magic seem more practical?"
Kaer Morhen Castle.
"Chief! Chief!"
Not long after the Witcher Master returned to Kaer Morhen, a drunken witcher staggered over.
"What's wrong?" the chief asked.
The Witcher took a couple of breaths and said, "We were drinking when a mountain of flesh suddenly appeared in the main hall of the castle."
The chief frowned and quickened his pace.
"Squeak~"
As soon as the main gate of the castle opened, a strange fragrance mixed with the smell of blood wafted out.
The chief caught a whiff of that familiar scent and paused slightly in his tracks.
He breathed a sigh of relief, shook his head helplessly, and stepped into the hall.
A small mountain of flesh and blood stood in the center, next to a campfire and a long table where the demon hunters drank.
The demon hunters, who should have been drinking, were now lying on the ground, swaying and looking as if they had been greatly frightened.
No wonder, anyone who is drinking, singing, and chatting with friends might suddenly find themselves facing a huge, blood-soaked, mangled corpse.
They probably won't perform very well.
In particular, this mountain of flesh faintly exuded a terrifying pressure, and the alcohol further amplified the Witcher's senses.
The level of terror is comparable to encountering a demon around the corner.
"Chief... Chief..."
The drunken and frightened witchers saw the chief leading a group of Witcher Master in and they all surrounded him.
The chief raised his hand, and the drunken witcher immediately quieted down.
"Don't worry, it's just Lady Vesemir's joke."
"A joke?" The drunken witcher who had come closer turned to look at the mountain of flesh, muttering something as if he was about to say something.
A few of his still-sane companions covered his mouth and dragged him away.
The old witcher with gray hair looked at the mountain of flesh in surprise and asked uncertainly:
"I remember that Lady Vesemir left with Vesemir and the others, so..."
The chief nodded and said, "That's right, these should be the Old Spearhead and the King of Ice that Ailin hunted down."
The surrounding witchers were stunned upon hearing this, and the entire main hall of the castle instantly fell silent.
For a moment, all that could be heard was the crackling and screaming of the firewood.
"Is the Ailin you're talking about, Chief, the one I know?" This was the Witcher who had drunk with Ailin.
"Where did another King of Ice come from?" This was the question posed by the Witcher who had previously encountered the Drowners King.
"A... who is Ailin?" This was the witcher who had gotten completely drunk in Kaer Morhen.
