Characteristics

Evil Soul Masters are distinguished by corrupt cultivation and the harm they inflict on living beings, rather than solely by the nature of their Martial Souls. Dark Demon Tiger, Evil Fire Phoenix, Dark Blue Silver Grass, and Blood Bat Martial Souls can exist without their wielders becoming Evil Soul Masters; the decisive factor is whether the Soul Master embraces corruption and cultivates through others' suffering or lives 164 378.

They generally cultivate faster than ordinary Soul Masters before reaching the Titled Douluo level and often possess combat strength above their rank. Their techniques are unusually sinister and difficult to predict, but their dependence on blood, souls, corpses, and similar resources—and the fact that they are hunted by society—makes advancement to Titled Douluo difficult for most of them 350 352.

Not all Evil Soul Masters entered that path willingly. Nana joined the Holy Spirit Cult after her parents' souls were controlled, while Tang Ya was mentally controlled by the cult. Other members, however, knowingly use civilians and captives as resources for cultivation or torture 260 359 435.

Life Force, Blood, and Flesh

Many Evil Soul Masters draw power from life force, blood, flesh, or corpses.

• The Shadow Demon Martial Soul can parasitize shadows, absorb life force and souls, travel through shadows, and burrow underground 255.
• Yan Feng's Burial Ground drains flesh and blood to restore him; victims reduced to bones further strengthen his Bone Dragon Martial Soul 405.
• Lu Genggeng's undead-type Abomination Martial Soul consumes corpses to strengthen itself and recover from injuries 404.
• Ade's Blood Shadow Puppet strips vital blood essence from a target, which he can absorb with Bloodsucking to restore his own strength 378.

Vengeful souls, yin energy, and human souls are common sources of power for Evil Soul Masters.

• The Fifth Elder's Myriad Soul Banner uses vengeful souls and yin energy, becoming especially dangerous on casualty-filled battlefields 541.
• The Fourth Elder's Netherworld Sword opens a parallel space by burning a human soul; at Titled Douluo level, he can seal up to nine souls for this purpose 448.

Sacred Angel Martial Souls

Sacred Angel Martial Souls possess ultimate holiness and are natural counters to Evil Soul Masters. Their wielders can sense Evil Soul Master traces, purify evil creatures, and gain restoration and cultivation from eliminating them 247 254 257.

• Evil Soul Masters actively hunt Sacred Angel wielders, contributing to the Martial Soul's rarity 247.
• Sacred Angel suppression is not absolute: the Third Elder's Man Faced Demon Spider Martial Soul was not inherently evil, allowing him to resist direct suppression despite being an Evil Soul Master 258.
• Ye Guyi's sacred attacks killed several Evil Soul Emperors and injured the Rank 78 Third Elder, demonstrating the attribute advantage against corrupt opponents 258.

Ultimate Fire and Other Purifying Attributes

Ultimate Fire can restrain Evil Soul Masters, though it is less specialized against them than ultimate holiness. Ma Xiaotao's Phoenix True Fire prevented the Sixth Elder's corpse miasma from approaching her 541.

Evil Soul Masters can still overwhelm superior attributes through unfamiliar or specialized techniques. Ye Guyi, despite her Sacred Angel Martial Soul, was temporarily incapacitated by Wu Yun's mental attack 436 438.

Holy Spirit Cult

The Holy Spirit Cult is a major Evil Soul Master organization with regional branches, formal ranks, and high-level combatants.

Death's Hand

Death's Hand is a bandit group led by an Evil Soul Master. Its cave hideout contained human skins, corpses, and murdered infants, prompting Shrek Academy's inspection mission to eliminate the organization completely 114 117.

The Death Messenger, an Evil Soul King connected to Death's Hand, detonated corpses to release corrosive poison after the group was defeated 118.

Dragon City Branch

The Holy Spirit Cult's Dragon City branch kidnapped Nan Shui Shui, the Earth Dragon Sect Master, and captured Earth Dragon Sect disciples alive. Its forces included multiple Evil Soul Emperors, a Rank 78 branch elder, and a Titled Douluo-level Evil Soul Master stationed nearby 243 250 258.

Ye Guyi's assault, aided by Ji Lin's concealment of her aura, killed four Evil Soul Emperors in the branch's core area before the remaining defenders were engaged 258 259.

Holy Spirit Sect Tournament Team

The Holy Spirit Sect publicly fielded Evil Soul Masters in the Continental Advanced Young Soul Master Elite Tournament.

• Jili and Wang Xiaolei, both Soul Emperor-level Evil Soul Masters, were killed by Ji Lin in consecutive individual matches 398 400.

Wu Yun, an eight-ring mental-attribute Evil Soul Master, discovered Ji Lin and Ye Guyi during their investigation. After injuring Ye Guyi with Fearful Shriek, she was controlled by Ji Lin's Word Spirit Art and purified by Ye Guyi; she thanked them before dying 436 437.
