Standing before Vizet and Snape was a tall, thin, middle-aged Ministry employee.
The Ministry employee looked rather unremarkable, much like any other middle-aged Ministry worker. Perhaps because he was past his prime, he did not seem particularly energetic, and a trace of fatigue naturally showed between his brows.
"You must be Mr. Lovegood?" the Ministry employee drawled. His voice was somewhat soft, and his flat tone carried the same weariness.
"That's me." Vizet nodded. "Sir, may I ask what this is about?"
"I'm Gilbert Wimple from the Experimental Charms Committee," the Ministry employee introduced himself.
"The fact that I can meet you here means your O.W.L. Exams are over, correct?"
Vizet nodded. "Yes, Mr. Wimple."
The Ministry employee continued, "We've actually wanted to speak with you for some time about the 'Charm to Repel Weapons.' However, we knew you needed to prepare for your O.W.L. Exams, so we did not disturb you."
"Now that your exams are over, would you have time to come with me? We've encountered some difficulties while analyzing the spell, and we hope you can help us resolve them. We would be deeply grateful!"
"Of course, no problem!" Vizet nodded in agreement. "But before that, I have a few other matters to—"
"It's fine!" Snape interrupted. "Go with Mr. Wimple first! My matter can wait until later."
"All right!" Vizet nodded. "Mr. Wimple, please lead the way!"
"Good!" The Ministry employee smiled and slowly turned around. "Then—"
The next instant, red light filled the entire stairwell.
Vizet had already raised his Wand and silently cast a Stunning Spell ahead of him.
Before the Ministry employee could finish speaking, he toppled stiffly forward.
The entire incident had happened so quickly that even Snape had only just raised his Wand.
