Background / History

Bai Ye was born with an exceptionally rare Ice Spirit Clan Ancestral Vein, granting extraordinary affinity for ice-attribute spiritual energy but also causing severe Cold Qi backlash. The backlash tormented him from within, repeatedly placing him near death and gradually changing his temperament over three years. 5 18

His original name was Bing Ye. After being taken in by Ying Longcheng following the battle against Xuan Lu, he was renamed Ying Baiye. The name “Bai” comes from his mother’s surname, while “Ye” was given by his father. 12 59

Bing Yu merged with Bai Ye to help him survive and passed on an Ice Spirit Clan cultivation art. Their connection later develops into Harmonious Fusion, a state possible only between an Emperor Crystal Ice Phoenix and an innate Ancestral Vein bearer. 12 175

Bai Ye is proud, observant, and highly self-aware. He recognizes Shen Cangsheng as an opponent he would likely lose to at that point in time, but sees this as proof that entering the Northern Azure Spiritual Academy was worthwhile. 42

He dislikes noise, pointless ceremony, and people who obstruct his path. Although often indifferent and blunt, he can be unpredictable: he may casually give away valuable spoils when in a good mood, yet respond to provocation with overwhelming force. 14
