Background / History

Ling Xi was a traumatized and withdrawn child when Qing Yanjing found her. During her first months under Qing Yanjing's care, she barely communicated; when introduced to Bai Ye, she bluntly told him she did not want to speak with him. Qing Yanjing nonetheless hoped companionship with someone her age would help Ling Xi recover. 3 246

She and Bai Ye gradually became inseparable under Qing Yanjing's care. Though Ling Xi initially considered smiling useless and kept herself emotionally closed off, Bai Ye persistently tried to make her smile. Their shared experiences and mutual fear of abandonment eventually developed into trust and commitment. 62

After separating from Bai Ye for seven years, Ling Xi traveled with Grandma Qiu, a World Inspector of the Grand Spirit Ancient Clan. Grandma Qiu taught her Spirit Arrays without reservation and passed down the Jade Spirit Ancient Skill. After Grandma Qiu died, Ling Xi was pursued by her enemies until the former Spirit Array Elder of the Northern Azure Spiritual Academy helped her. At the elder's request, Ling Xi became her successor at the academy. 75

Ling Xi is reserved, calm, and intensely self-contained. Her early trauma left her reluctant to speak or trust others, and she initially treated emotional expression as unnecessary. She understands Bai Ye exceptionally well, often recognizing his intentions without explanation. Although she presents herself as indifferent, she is deeply protective of him, becomes anxious when he is in danger, and repeatedly exhausts herself to help him. 283 344
