Bai Ye: There's a Traitor Within Qingyun Sect!
Dinnertime passed quickly.
Tian Buyi and his wife lectured Bai Ye for quite a while, warning him not to reveal that he had inherited Old Man Blackheart's legacy.
Old Man Blackheart had, after all, been a member of the Demonic Path. If someone within Qingyun Sect with ulterior motives learned of it, they would certainly make a great issue out of it. Bai Ye would be in a great deal of trouble then.
Bai Ye understood the implications clearly and promised that he would never speak of it.
Thus, the dinner came to an end.
"Woof, woof, woof!"
"Squeak, squeak, squeak!"
Just as Bai Ye stepped out of Shouxin Hall, two sounds suddenly rang out.
Big Yellow and Little Gray seemed to have appeared from nowhere. They looked excitedly at Bai Ye, who had returned, circling around him.
"You two little fellows!"
"It's only been a few months, but you seem to have gotten fatter again. Looks like Master and the others have been taking good care of you."
Looking at the dog and monkey, both noticeably rounder than before, Bai Ye shook his head with a smile.
Over the past few months, Big Yellow and Little Gray had definitely eaten quite well.
Big Yellow had been personally raised by Tian Buyi, who was deeply attached to him, so he would never be short on food. Little Gray had been taken in by Bai Ye, and with Bai Ye's connection, his treatment naturally would not be poor either.
Hearing Bai Ye's words, Big Yellow and Little Gray became even more excited. Big Yellow's tail wagged so wildly that he spun around Bai Ye's feet, while Little Gray leaped onto Bai Ye's shoulder.
Their treatment was naturally not bad, but they were still lacking one thing.
That was right!
Bai Ye's wine!
Though Tian Buyi fed them well, letting them drink was out of the question.
Now that Bai Ye, their master, had returned, they were naturally beside themselves with excitement.
Seeing how excited the two were, Bai Ye suddenly understood. He smiled faintly. "I won't deny you two any wine."
As soon as he spoke, the dog and monkey's eyes lit up with delight.
Bringing the two fellows back to the small courtyard in the Black Bamboo Grove, Bai Ye felt a touch of nostalgia. Though he had not been gone for long, it felt as though much time had passed.
After giving Big Yellow and Little Gray plenty of wine, Bai Ye washed up and enjoyed a good night's sleep.
He did not wake until the next day, when Song Daren came to the courtyard and called him.
"Junior Brother, the two children from Caomiao Village have woken up. Master wants us to make a trip to Tongtian Peak."
Song Daren spoke as he looked at Bai Ye.
Bai Ye nodded. After washing up briefly, he headed to Tongtian Peak with Song Daren.
By the time they arrived, the head seats of the Seven Peaks, along with the only three survivors from Caomiao Village, were already gathered at Tongtian Peak.
"Heh! Junior Tian, your disciple certainly knows how to put on airs."
"Are we seven head seats supposed to wait for them?"
Cang Song Head Seat immediately lashed out.
"Sect Master, this disciple only rushed back to the sect yesterday and was somewhat exhausted, which is why I arrived late."
Bai Ye ignored him and instead cupped his hands toward Dao Xuan, seated at the head of Tongtian Peak.
Dao Xuan nodded slightly. "Nephew Bai Ye has just returned from his travels, so it is only natural that he would be somewhat tired."
"Very well. The two children from Caomiao Village and that villager have all arrived. Let us discuss the matter."
As he spoke, Dao Xuan looked toward the other head seats present.
With the seven head seats gathered, disciples like Bai Ye naturally had no place to speak.
At that moment, Bai Ye turned his gaze toward the two children in the hall. One looked frightened, yet remained fairly composed. The other was exceedingly ordinary in appearance, his face filled with immense grief.
Lin Jingyu. Zhang Xiaofan.
A strange look appeared in Bai Ye's eyes as he watched the two children.
The incident at Caomiao Village was discussed directly at Tongtian Peak. The various head seats were all filled with righteous indignation, determined to find the demonic fiend responsible.
Finally, they came to the matter of how to handle the two children.
Lin Jingyu possessed outstanding talent, among the finest in the entire Qingyun Sect. Naturally, several head seats competed for him. Zhang Xiaofan, however, had poor aptitude and drew no interest.
In the end, Lin Jingyu was still taken in by Daoist Cang Song of Longshou Peak.
As for Zhang Xiaofan, no one wanted him.
"Master, this child may not have much talent, but he would do well enough at Dazhu Peak. Dazhu Peak also needs a junior brother to cook."
Bai Ye looked at Tian Buyi and said with a smile.
The moment he spoke, all the head seats present were stunned. None of them had expected Bai Ye to speak up.
Tian Buyi was also taken aback. After considering it for a moment, he said, "In that case, Sect Master, let this child join my Dazhu Peak."
Upon hearing this, Dao Xuan revealed a smile.
He had originally intended to speak and have Tian Buyi take in Zhang Xiaofan. Now that Tian Buyi had volunteered, there was naturally no need for him to waste his breath.
"Good!"
"Then these two children will be entrusted to Junior Brother Cang Song and Junior Tian. Teach them well, and do not let them stray onto the wrong path."
"Let this matter end here."
With that, Dao Xuan intended to dismiss everyone.
"Sect Master, this disciple has something to say." Bai Ye's voice suddenly rang out again.
The various head seats present were once again stunned.
What was with Bai Ye? Why did he have so much to say?
Dao Xuan looked at Bai Ye. "Nephew Bai Ye, speak freely. There are no outsiders here."
Everyone turned their gazes toward Bai Ye, wanting to know what else he intended to say.
Bai Ye swept his gaze across the head seats present and slowly said, "When this disciple entered Caomiao Village yesterday, I seemed to sense traces of the Divine Sword Lightning Control True Art. Though it was extremely faint, I do not believe I was mistaken about that aura of lightning."
"What?!"
In an instant, Dao Xuan was shaken. He rose directly from his seat, his eyes fixed firmly on Bai Ye. "Is what you say true?!"
At the same time, Tian Buyi, Grandmaster Shuiyue, and the other head seats all changed expression, staring intently at Bai Ye.
They naturally understood the gravity of Bai Ye's words!
The Divine Sword Lightning Control True Art!
It was one of Qingyun Sect's four great Divine Arts, a secret never passed beyond the sect. Yet it had now appeared in Caomiao Village. What did that imply?
And by coincidence, the Divine Sword Lightning Control True Art had appeared in Caomiao Village, where nearly everyone had been massacred.
The connection between the two...
In an instant, the expressions of the many head seats present changed drastically as they exchanged glances.
"Nephew Bai Ye, do you understand what you are saying?!"
"The Divine Sword Lightning Control True Art is a secret never passed down outside Qingyun Sect. There are only a handful within Qingyun Sect who can cultivate this Divine Art."
"More importantly, once the Divine Sword Lightning Control True Art is used, how could it leave behind any aura? Do you understand the consequences of lying?!"
Daoist Cang Song stared fixedly at Bai Ye.
Dao Xuan, Tian Buyi, Shui Yue, and the others all fixed their eyes upon Bai Ye.
Bai Ye gave a cold smile.
"Sect Master, Master, esteemed head seats, this disciple dares swear upon his life that he was not mistaken!"
