Overview

Qingyun Sect is a renowned righteous sect in the Central Plains and is regarded as the number one force of the Orthodox Path. Its founding mission is to “eliminate demons and defend the Dao, to help the world and save people”; violations of sect rules are subject to severe punishment. 1

The sect is headquartered in the Qingyun mountain range, a strategically important region guarded by the Dahe and Hongchuan rivers. Its territory spans hundreds of miles and consists of seven principal peaks. 1

Location

Qingyun Sect occupies the Qingyun mountain range, whose peaks rise above the clouds and dominate the Central Plains. The range is known for mist-covered mountains, dense forests, waterfalls, unusual rock formations, rare birds, and exotic animals. 1

Organization

Qingyun Sect is governed by its Sect Leader and the head seats of the seven peaks. Although the Sect Leader holds supreme authority, each peak head has substantial autonomy in internal lineage affairs, including succession. 10

Cultivation and inherited arts

History

Qingyun Sect is established as a leading Orthodox Path force long before Bai Ye's arrival. By the time he enters, it is considered the safest major refuge from the active Demonic Path and the foremost righteous sect in the world. 1

Bai Ye joins Dazhu Peak under Tian Buyi and eventually becomes Tian Buyi's personal disciple. During his formal acceptance at the Ancestral Hall, he pledges that Qingyun will not be invaded by the Demonic Path while he lives. 1 9

The sect faces increasing internal and external pressure after Old Ancestor Duanmu of the Myriad Poisons Sect is killed within its territory. The Seven Peaks Council chooses investigation and heightened defenses rather than immediate war, fearing that retaliation could unite the four major Demonic Cult factions against Qingyun Sect. 22 27

The Caomiao Village massacre intensifies suspicions of an internal traitor. Qingyun Sect takes in survivors Zhang Xiaofan and Lin Jingyu, while the peak heads investigate Bai Ye's report that the Divine Sword Lightning Control True Art was used at the scene. 44 46 47

Daoist Cang Song's defection later confirms the sect's internal crisis. Dao Xuan confronts him at Longshou Peak, issues a kill order, and Qingyun Sect is shaken by the betrayal. 52 54

Seven Peaks Tournament

Qingyun Sect's once-in-sixty-years Seven Peaks Tournament gathers disciples from all seven lineages and attracts observers from Heavenly Sound Temple and Incense Valley. The event serves as both an internal contest and a public display of the sect's younger generation. 82 84 86

Bai Ye wins the tournament and is publicly announced as Qingyun Sect's Successor Apprentice, despite many expecting Dao Xuan's disciple Xiao Yicai to inherit the position. 96 97

Demonic Cult siege

The four major Demonic Cult factions invade Qingyun Sect, seeking the Immortal Slaughtering Sword and demanding submission from Dao Xuan. 158

During the siege, Bai Ye confronts multiple Shangqing Realm opponents and ultimately unleashes Myriad Swords Return to Origin, killing hundreds of Demonic Cult cultivators and forcing the surviving leaders to retreat. 162 165
