Background
Guo Jianjun came to occupy Yue Qianchou’s body after Yue escaped a bandit kidnapping arranged by his cousin, Xue Gaibao. Discovering that he had entered an ancient world where immortals existed, he resolved to cultivate and became immediately suspicious of Xue Gaibao’s feigned concern. 3
His first sect was the Qingguang Sect, where Hao Sansi—an eighth-generation disciple and peer of Sect Master Liu Changqing—accepted him as his first disciple. Yue became a ninth-generation disciple, senior in generation to many Qingguang Sect members. 7 343
After leaving Qingguang Sect, Yue spent time hidden at the Marquis General’s Mansion and later entered Fu Xian Island as his second sect. He was eventually expelled from Fu Xian Island for killing Qingguang Sect Master Liu Changqing and Liu’s grandson. 217 343 966
Bi Changchun became Yue’s third master. Under Bi’s guidance, Yue continued developing his own techniques rather than relying solely on established sect inheritances. 343 448 449
Appearance
Yue Qianchou frequently alters his appearance to move unnoticed, most notably through his Niu Youde identity. After a later return to Shuntian Island, he appeared with a distinctive hairstyle and tanned skin. 470 764 919
- Uses a human-skin mask to assume the identity of Niu Youde. 470 919
- Has been recognized by his distinctive Great Black Saber even while dressed plainly. 385
- Later adopts a noticeably changed hairstyle and darker complexion. 764
Personality
Yue is bold, provocative, and willing to act before his opponents can prepare. He has repeatedly challenged stronger cultivators, used surprise attacks, and relied on audacity to reverse unfavorable situations. 293 395 882
He is also calculating and highly protective of those he considers his own. He builds forces rather than trusting sect powers, keeps crucial cultivation secrets, and places people around allies both to protect and monitor them. 12 89 341 918
His methods can be ruthless. Yue kills those who openly defy him, manipulates rivals and subordinates for strategic advantage, and has used personal relationships to settle grudges. Yet he remains concerned for his family, disciples, and ordinary people under his protection. 145 284 403 1148
Abilities & Skills
Five Elements Cultivation Techniques
Yue possesses and develops multiple Five Elements techniques, including Water, Fire, Gold, and Earth Arts. His cultivation allows unusual applications beyond his displayed realm. 772 927 1182
- Uses the Star Flame Fire Art to form and control destructive flame dragons. 626
- Combines Star Cloud Water Art and Star Flame Fire Art in combat. 423
- Can operate Water, Fire, Gold, and Earth Arts simultaneously after reaching the Early Minor Immortal stage. 927
- Uses Earth Art through the ground as a medium, manipulating stones into large formations of flying swords. 882
- Can reduce flying swords to silver powder with a wave of his sleeve. 922
Fire Control and Alchemy
Yue’s fire control is unusually precise and powerful, allowing him to refine pills without a furnace and to use fire as a lethal combat technique. 250 324 453
- Melted Luo Xiaohan’s flying sword and killed him despite Luo’s Nascent Soul cultivation. 250
- Refines pills directly with Azure Fire emerging from both palms. 324 453
- Can refine numerous furnaces at once; by the late Spirit Transformation stage, he believed one hundred simultaneous furnaces were possible. 922
- Created Restriction Breaking Pills and Great Restriction Breaking Pills to force rapid cultivation gains, though the earlier pills leave users stiff for a month after their effects end. 328 923
Returning Origin Sword Art
Yue selected the Returning Origin Sword Art because it allows simultaneous control of multiple flying swords. He modified it through repeated near-fatal cultivation attempts, with the golden bead repairing his body and preventing collapse. 100 157
- Controlled nearly one hundred flying swords during the Cultivation Pavilion competition. 157
- Later unleashed a thousand flying swords against opponents at the Tribulation Transcendence stage. 395 396
- His Black Fire flying swords can destroy magic treasures, break sword energy, and damage opponents’ divine senses. 423
- The art became popular among Foundation Establishment disciples after his public demonstrations. 159
Star Absorbing Great Method
The Star Absorbing Great Method drains a target once Yue has successfully locked onto them. 772 882
- Turned Bao Tuxing into a dried corpse after drawing him into range. 882
- Can be used through terrain; Yue spread his senses through the earth to approach a stronger opponent without alerting him. 882
- At the time of his battle with Bao Tuxing, Yue could only reliably lock onto targets within roughly fifty meters and required a surprise opportunity against wary foes. 882
Martial Arts and Close-Quarters Combat
Yue retains fighting experience from his former life as an underworld leader. He combines that experience with True Essence to make his physical attacks effective against cultivators. 29 187 898
- Defeated the late Core Formation Luo Xiaohan with punches and kicks, shocking cultivators unused to close-quarters fighting. 187
- Uses physical combat selectively; he recognizes that charging an opponent wielding a flying sword would be suicidal. 187
- His combat instincts and decisiveness let him exploit opponents who underestimate his lower displayed cultivation. 395 491
Disguise, Deception, and Escape
Yue routinely conceals his identity, intentions, and cultivation methods. 12 470 625
- Maintained the Niu Youde persona with a human-skin mask. 470 625 919
- His true identity as Niu Youde was eventually exposed to Yan Zhuixing. 759
- Keeps major secrets even from allies, including the golden bead and his pill-refining method. 12 148
- Has repeatedly evaded cultivators much stronger than himself, including late Tribulation Transcendence pursuers. 288
Music and Divination
Yue is an accomplished zither player and singer whose music can affect both allies and enemies. He also employs bone-reading fortune-telling. 124 1110 1113
- Subdued the Ghost General through music and helped rescue cultivators from multiple sects. 124
- Was praised as exceptionally skilled in both zither and song by Grandma Ma Jiu. 124
- Used divination and provocation to unsettle the Saintess of the Underworld. 1110
- His bone-reading fortune-telling impressed Taishu Xuan. 1113
Leadership and Force-Building
Yue treats manpower as a strategic resource and prefers to establish his own power base rather than depend on sects. 89 918
- Organized more than three hundred cultivators into companies, platoons, and squads under Guan Yu’s training system. 147
- Ordered his followers to recruit anyone with Spiritual Roots regardless of age. 217
- Reorganized his army around practical combat training and discipline. 284 328
