Broken-Spine Dog Tang Xiao
The next day, Tang Hao, sporting a bird's nest of hair, sought out Tang Xiao. "Brother, I've decided to give up and return to the Clear Sky Sect to inherit the family legacy."
After hearing this, Tang Xiao reached out and patted Tang Hao on the shoulder. "It's good that you've come to your senses. Another day, I'll introduce you to a fine match."
"Mm, Brother." Tang Hao said nothing more.
After breakfast, Ah Yin and Tang Xiao decided to continue their travels to the next destination, while Tang Hao would return to the Clear Sky Sect. Before parting, Tang Xiao decided to see Tang Hao off.
They traveled onward until they reached a fork in the road. There was not a soul within ten miles.
Ah Yin and Tang Xiao held hands. Upon hearing that Tang Hao was preparing to leave, Ah Yin was immensely happy, cheerfully discussing with Tang Xiao where they should go next to have some fun.
Tang Hao followed behind them, his stiff face growing increasingly grim.
Ah Yin, I haven't even left yet, and you're already this excited. How much must you hate having me around? You weren't like this in your previous life. It must be Tang Xiao. He must have bewitched you somehow.
"How about we visit Vast Sea City? I heard the seafood there is delicious. What do you think, Ah Yin?" Tang Xiao asked after giving it some thought.
"Sure. When we get there, I can cook you some of my specialty dishes."
"Don't tell me you're planning to make So Many Fish for me?" Tang Xiao teased.
Ah Yin said, "No. It's not like that's the only dish I know how to make. There are plenty of things I can cook, and I'll make them especially for you. No one else gets to eat them even if they want to."
"Haha, then I'm a lucky man."
Without a sound, a Clear Sky Hammer appeared in Tang Hao's hand.
With every step Tang Hao took forward, a Soul Ring descended around him.
"Then we can go to Gengxin City. It's the city of blacksmiths. Once we get there, I can properly show you my blacksmithing skills," Tang Xiao said. "I'll make you a soft armor vest for protection."
"Then thank you, Brother Xiao."
As Tang Xiao was still planning where they should go next, a violent surge of Soul Power suddenly erupted behind him.
"Great Sumeru Hammer—" An enraged roar, suppressed for far too long, burst out behind them.
Tang Xiao turned around, only to see an enormous hammer crashing toward him with unstoppable might.
Caught off guard, Tang Xiao was struck in the back by the Clear Sky Hammer—
"Aah—"
With a crack, Tang Xiao's spine was directly pulverized by the Clear Sky Hammer's violent Soul Power. His body flew through the air like a blood bag before crashing to the ground.
Ah Yin stood frozen in place, staring at Tang Hao. His eyes were red, his breath came in heavy gasps, and he still held the pose of having swung the Clear Sky Hammer.
"Brother Hao, you... why?" Tang Xiao coughed up blood and lay painfully on the ground. He tried to rise, only to discover in shock that his spine had been shattered and he was paralyzed. Tang Xiao felt dazed. He, Tang Xiao, was already a Soul Douluo. In a few years, after obtaining one more Soul Ring, he would become a Titled Douluo, someone qualified to one day step into his grandfather's ultimate realm. Yet now, he was crippled. For a moment, he could not accept it.
Thinking of Ah Yin, of his son Tang San, the God King, and of his future throne as Lord of the Plane, Tang Hao laughed in fury. "Hahaha, my dear brother, you want to take my woman and steal everything that belongs to me, and you still ask me why?"
"Shut up. I'm not your woman." Ah Yin snapped out of the sudden upheaval and hurried to Tang Xiao's side to examine his injuries. When she felt his shattered spine, her expression turned incomparably ugly. She immediately channeled the Blue Silver Emperor's Soul Power into Tang Xiao's body, patiently treating his wounds.
This sight provoked Tang Hao even further. Blood Red killing intent burst from his eyes. His nostrils flared wide, spewing white vapor. He tossed the Clear Sky Hammer aside, spread his arms, and flexed his bronze muscles. He pounded his chest fiercely, opened his mouth, and let out agonized, grief-stricken roars.
"Aahhh! Why? Ah Yin, there's only ever him in your eyes, only Tang Xiao! Even now that he's a cripple, you still won't spare me a glance. We're the ones who should be together. Why?!"
"There is no why." Ah Yin said coldly, "I never liked you. It was decided from the very first moment I saw you. And now it seems I truly did not misjudge you. You're a beast, to attack your own brother so viciously."
After saying that, she gazed deeply at Tang Xiao. "From the first moment I saw Brother Xiao, I fell deeply in love with him. Even if he has now been gravely injured by a beast like you, I am willing to take care of him for the rest of my life."
"Ah Yin." Upon hearing those words, none of Tang Xiao's pain mattered anymore. He gazed at Ah Yin with equal affection.
This scene stabbed Tang Hao's heart once more. He drew a deep breath and tried to remain calm. "I don't know what spell my brother cast on you, but Ah Yin, you are destined to be mine. You will never escape the palm of my hand in this life. It doesn't matter if I can't have your heart. I'll take your body first, then slowly obtain your heart."
With that, Tang Hao walked toward Ah Yin step by step.
"You... what are you trying to do?" Ah Yin immediately sensed that something was wrong.
Tang Hao suddenly lunged forward, sealing her Soul Power and grabbing Ah Yin. Just as he was about to leave, Tang Xiao grabbed his foot.
"Let Ah Yin go," Tang Xiao said angrily.
"Let me go!" Ah Yin struggled in Tang Hao's grip.
Tang Hao kicked Tang Xiao's hand away, seized Ah Yin, and strode off.
Tang Xiao was left behind, crawling painfully across the ground with his hands.
"Tang Hao, stop! Give Ah Yin back to me!"
Divine Temple, Eternal Temple
Huo Yuhao closed the Eternal Chronicle. From the corner of his eye, he looked toward the Douluo Continent, taking in the dramatic scene involving the three of them. He sneered. "What a splendid story. Before endless benefits one can see, even pure love ultimately has to step aside, doesn't it?"
Elsewhere, at the Shura God Temple.
The Shura God had just gone to deal with some official business. When he returned and activated Divine Vision, he froze.
What had just happened? The Shura God was completely dumbfounded.
According to his script, once Tang Hao emerged from the City of Slaughter, Tang Xiao was basically out of the picture. Ah Yin would fall for Tang Hao, and the two would conceive a son together. Then he would have his Great Treasure perform Body Seizure on that body, with Tang Hao becoming Great Treasure's guardian. And this soul beast would no longer be useful, so at the critical moment, he would have her devote everything for love, paving the way for his guardian and Great Treasure.
But the script had gone off the rails. When the three met, Ah Yin fell in love not with Tang Hao, but with Tang Xiao. That was not a major issue—Tang Xiao's talent was more than enough for him to be Great Treasure's father. Tang Hao could stand guard outside the door. After the child was born, he could protect the child. Then, when Great Treasure inherited the position of Shura God, he could sacrifice himself for Great Treasure and open the gate to the Shura God's inheritance. That would have been a fine plan as well.
Who could have known that Tang Hao would suddenly explode on the spot, hammering his own brother into a Broken-Spine Dog and abducting Ah Yin?
The Shura God could not make sense of it and was utterly shaken. If you loved her, shouldn't you fulfill her wishes?
