After Xiao Wu finished speaking, she made a show of rolling up nonexistent sleeves. Her big eyes glared fiercely at Xu Changqing, looking as though he would get a beating if he dared say another word.
"Didn't I say I'd lend you money?" Xu Changqing said helplessly.
"Too lazy to buy one!" Xiao Wu ground her teeth and demanded indignantly, "I even showed you the way just now, and now you're turning around and looking down on me?"
As a rather self-obsessed little girl, Xiao Wu found it quite upsetting to seemingly be disliked by someone. At the same time, an unyielding urge to get to the bottom of things rose in her heart.
From Xiao Wu's perspective, this was no longer a matter of whether they should sleep together. It was a matter of whether she was being disliked.
Xu Changqing had lived nearly thirty years in his previous life and had met plenty of girls. From Xiao Wu's tone, he could tell she was beginning to fixate on this.
Most girls seemed to be like this, though. That was apparently no different across worlds.
At a time like this, most straight men would choose to argue stubbornly with girls and reason things out. That choice would often earn them a thorough scolding, and in serious cases, they might even get beaten up.
Scumbags were much wiser in their choices. They would say nice things, picking only what girls liked to hear. As for how much truth there was in those words—
Who cared?
Women were emotional creatures, after all!
Xu Changqing did not consider himself a straight man, but he was certainly no scumbag either.
He fell somewhere in between: a rational man who could assess the situation clearly!
What was a rational man?
He had to see the situation clearly, know how to reason, and know how to say nice things—but he also had to strike the right balance between the two. That was a rational man.
Glancing at Xiao Wu's tightly clenched fists, he quickly forced a bitter smile and denied it. "Xiao Wu, you're so cute. How could I possibly dislike you? You must be overthinking it."
What a joke. This little girl was not quite right in the head. He did not want to get beaten up.
After thinking it over, Xu Changqing patiently explained in a low voice, "Look, the main thing is that one of us is a guy and the other is a girl. What would it look like if we slept together?"
"You should know that men and women shouldn't have overly close physical contact, right?"
"I'm not afraid, so what are you afraid of?" Xiao Wu retorted, glaring with her big eyes. "Don't tell me you're scared Sister Xiao Wu might rape you?"
Xu Changqing's mouth twitched.
What kind of savage words were those?
At that moment, several of Xiao Wu's newly acquired lackeys let out meaningful hoots beside them, chuckling at Xu Changqing.
Wang Sheng, her number-one lackey, even patted Xu Changqing on the shoulder. Wiggling his eyebrows, he said with a lecherous grin, "Changqing, Sister Xiao Wu wanting to sleep with you is your good fortune. I'd advise you not to be ungrateful. We want to sleep with Sister Xiao Wu, but we don't even get the chance."
"Exactly, exactly!" Quite a few people nearby joined in, all wearing knowing smiles.
Xu Changqing rolled his eyes. These guys really were enjoying the spectacle without fear of making things worse.
The situation is bad. I've already lost any room to resist. Timing, terrain, and support are all against me. Self-preservation is the best strategy!
"Fine, do whatever you want." Xu Changqing lay down on the bed, looking utterly dead inside.
Xiao Wu puffed out her little chest with a proud smile. Pouting, she waved her fist at Xu Changqing, then directed Wang Sheng and the others to push over the bed beside his and join the two beds together.
Xu Changqing watched silently, beginning to question his life.
Wasn't this plot development a little off?
Why had that useless Tang San not arrived yet?
If he came, Xu Changqing could at least gain some support.
Just as he was thinking this, someone entered through the door of the Seventh Dorm. Looking closely, wasn't it Tang San?
Speak of the devil, and he appears. But wasn't he a little late?
Couldn't he have come earlier to draw some of the "firepower"?
"A newcomer's here." Wang Sheng's eyes lit up when he saw Tang San walk in. He hurriedly leaned close to Xiao Wu and urged in a low voice, "Sister Xiao Wu, the Seventh Dorm's rules can't be broken. Go give him a lesson."
Xiao Wu herself was restless by nature. Hearing this, she could no longer hold herself back. With her head held high, she walked toward Tang San.
"Phew, the firepower's finally been drawn away." Xu Changqing let out a breath of relief, then took advantage of everyone's attention being elsewhere to silently study the System's functions.
Watching Tang San and Xiao Wu fight would be pointless anyway. His mind might understand, but his hands would not. Those techniques had been honed over time, not something one could learn after watching just once.
Rather than joining the excitement, he might as well study something useful to him right now.
Meanwhile.
Tang San, who was looking around the dormitory, was unsurprisingly stopped by Xiao Wu.
"Hello, I'm Xiao Wu—Wu as in dancing. I'm the boss of this Seventh Dorm. We have a rule here: newcomers need to show the strength of their Martial Soul. If you can beat me, you'll be the new boss of the Seventh Dorm from now on." Xiao Wu looked at Tang San eagerly.
Tang San was taken aback. He looked around at everyone, clearly puzzled that this girl, who looked the youngest among them, was their boss. However, he had come on his teacher's assignment and had no interest in playing some childish game of competing to be king of the kids.
"I came to the academy to study, not to fight. I'm not interested in being the boss of this Seventh Dorm either." Tang San shook his head, his gaze sweeping around as though searching for something.
Tang San sounded casual, even somewhat disdainful. He was mentally mature to begin with, so naturally he could not be bothered to compete with a group of children, in his eyes, for the position of Seventh Dorm boss.
"No. This is the rule of our Seventh Dorm," Xiao Wu insisted.
Tang San was growing impatient and was about to refuse when he suddenly recalled that his System had issued quite a few combat tasks.
Wasn't this the perfect opportunity to complete a System task?
After considering it, Tang San changed his tune and nodded. "Since it's the rule, fine. But I don't fight girls. You can come instead."
His gaze moved across the group before he finally pointed at Wang Sheng.
Wang Sheng was a little older and also the tallest person present, so Tang San naturally set his sights on him.
What abilities could a group of children possibly have?
He believed he could casually knock them all down.
"Fight me?" Wang Sheng had been preparing to watch the show. When Tang San suddenly pointed at him, he froze for a moment before looking at Xiao Wu. Once he saw her nod, he stepped forward. "Fine. If you can't even beat me, there'll be no need for Sister Xiao Wu to make a move."
As soon as he finished speaking, Wang Sheng rushed forward and threw a punch at Tang San's face. Soul Power wrapped around his right fist like a layer of boxing gloves.
Tang San secretly shook his head. The Mysterious Heaven Skill circulated within him, and his right hand shot out, firmly catching Wang Sheng's incoming fist. While easily deflecting the force of the blow, Tang San himself did not budge in the slightest.
He then turned his right hand, twisting Wang Sheng's tightly gripped fist along with it. Pain shot through Wang Sheng, and his body naturally leaned in the direction his arm was being twisted. The center of gravity in his lower body was already unstable.
Tang San's lips curled slightly. As the Mysterious Heaven Skill circulated, he exerted just a little force with his right hand and flung the unbalanced Wang Sheng into the air. Stepping back, he slammed Wang Sheng flat on his back onto the dormitory floor with a bang.
The battle ended in a single breath.
The two were not on the same level at all.
Ding! Yellow-Grade Weekly Task: Defeat one Soul Master or one Soul Beast of the same rank alone—completed beyond requirements. Task reward has been issued to the System Space.
Listening to the System prompt in his mind and watching Wang Sheng climb back up with bared teeth, Tang San said calmly, "Thanks for letting me win."
At the same time.
A System prompt also sounded in Xu Changqing's mind.
A Servant System host has completed one Yellow Level Task. The host has received one designated Soul Ring age increase reward of five years. The reward has been issued to the System Space.
"Hm?"
Xu Changqing froze. He had been studying the System's functions, and suddenly a System reward had arrived?
It seemed the host of the first Sub-system he had distributed had begun completing tasks.
"Yellow Level Task, a reward of five years for a Soul Ring's age..."
"I wonder what grade a Yellow Level Task is. Hopefully it isn't too high, or this reward is a bit underwhelming and won't be very useful to me."
While pondering, Xu Changqing fumbled around for a while before successfully linking his consciousness to the System Space. Before this, he had not even known the System had such a function.
It was a sealed space with a capacity of roughly one thousand cubic meters. At its center, a yellow pearl floated quietly. Xu Changqing sensed it for a moment and understood its function.
It could increase a Soul Ring's age by five years.
It was quite an interesting reward, but it was practically useless to him right now.
