Seventh Dorm Trouble, Seeking Investment

"Should be here, right?"

Pointing at the small Seventh Dorm sign hanging above the doorframe, Xiao Wu turned and asked Xu Changqing behind her.

Xu Changqing took a glance, nodded, and stepped back. "Open the door. Be careful."

If he remembered correctly, Tang San had been ambushed the moment he pushed open the door to Seventh Dorm in the anime. Now that Xiao Wu and he had arrived first, was it possible they would be the ones getting ambushed instead?

Having a girl step up to "take the hit" was hardly gentlemanly, but Xu Changqing had no choice. Unlike Tang San and Xiao Wu, who both had decent fighting skills, he was just an ordinary rookie who had only just awakened his martial soul.

Displaying absurd flexibility, she easily avoided the punch.

But she wasn't done. The toes of her already bent right leg snapped out in an instant, kicking the sneak attacker squarely in the chest. Before the academy-uniformed boy could react, he was sent flying back into the dormitory even faster than he had come, tumbling around in a daze.

The winner was decided in the blink of an eye.

With a push of her little hand, Xiao Wu sprang gracefully to her feet and flashed Xu Changqing a sly, proud smile. "How was that? I'm awesome, right!"

Xu Changqing gave her a thumbs-up, offering the approval of a handsome man.

"Awesome! What was that move called?" he asked.

"Rabbit Kicks Eagle!" Xiao Wu said as she skipped through the wide-open door into Seventh Dorm, swinging her arms and swaying her Scorpion Braid.

"Rabbit Kicks Eagle really is fitting." Recalling Xiao Wu's movements just now, Xu Changqing smiled and followed her inside.

Seventh Dorm was quite spacious. Inside was a wide aisle down the middle, with beds neatly arranged on either side, perhaps thirty or forty in total. At the moment, though, only eleven beds had bedding on them.

There were around seven or eight children inside, all seemingly between eight and twelve years old. When Xu Changqing entered, they were helping up an older-looking boy who was baring his teeth and clutching his chest in pain.

He should be the unlucky guy Xiao Wu had kicked flying. If Xu Changqing remembered right, his name was Wang Sheng?

With her head held high, Xiao Wu walked up to the group, puffing out her little chest like a rooster that had won a fight. Looking at Wang Sheng, she huffed, "Who are you? Why did you sneak-attack me just now?"

The children exchanged looks. In the end, Wang Sheng rubbed his chest and stepped forward, his face full of embarrassed shame. "My name is Wang Sheng. I'm the boss of this dormitory. Sorry, I didn't know the newcomer was a girl. Please forgive my offense just now. According to the rules of our Seventh Dorm, since you beat me, you'll be the new boss of Seventh Dorm from now on."

"New boss?" Xiao Wu's eyes lit up. She bounced twice on her toes and excitedly waved a fist. "Sounds pretty fun!"

Clearly, she had completely forgotten about being ambushed just moments ago.

Seeing this, Xu Changqing cheerfully carried his bundle past them. He had no interest in joining the fun. It was just a game among children.

Xu Changqing's mouth twitched. He continued making his bed without even turning around. "My martial soul isn't combat-oriented. I can't fight. You can be the boss."

"You can't fight..." Xiao Wu looked a little disappointed when she heard that, but she quickly recovered and said happily, "That's fine too. From now on, you can call me Sister Xiao Wu just like Wang Sheng and the others. If anything happens, Sister Xiao Wu will protect you!"

Xiao Wu sniffled and huffed, "But I don't have any money either."

When Wang Sheng and the others nearby heard that their new boss lacked bedding, they immediately brought over their own blankets or bedrolls to curry favor with her.

But they were all work-study students. Their bedding either had patches on it or had been slept in for years, dirty and far from clean. Xiao Wu was obviously dissatisfied. After looking around, her big eyes settled on the bedding on Xu Changqing's bed.

Xu Changqing's mouth twitched slightly at the sight.

Don't tell me you want to sleep with me?
