Background / History

Zhunti and his senior brother Jieyin come from the West. They reach Hongjun's lecture at Zixiao Palace in tattered clothes and plead for seats by crying about their journey from the barren Western lands. After they turn their attention to Hou Tu's seat, Qin Xuan subdues them and repeatedly strikes Zhunti's head against a pillar, knocking off his hair 7 8.

The brothers pursue treasures and disciples to strengthen the West. They raid the Three Pure Ones' temple on Kunlun Mountain while disguised as Hou Tu and Xuan Ming. At Mount Sumeru, they assemble hundreds of thousands of converted disciples, shave their heads, and send them east to seek supposed “karmic connections.” Their dispute with the Three Pure Ones brings an attack on Mount Sumeru; Qin Xuan takes the treasures there, and Hongjun orders the brothers to compensate the Three Pure Ones 51 55 57.

After further setbacks, Jieyin persuades Zhunti that attaining greater personal strength must take priority over gathering resources. They enter seclusion and are later shown as Saints. At the North Sea, they join other Sages pursuing Kunpeng's regrowing wings. Zhunti supports Jieyin's plan to recruit Kunpeng into the Western Sect, where Kunpeng becomes vice sect leader 132 166 169 170.

Zhunti and Jieyin later publicly renounce Hongjun and pledge allegiance to Qin Xuan, though their conflicts with Hongjun continue. They also flee Mount Sumeru with their disciples and assets rather than face the approaching Demon and Immortal Court armies 185 293 297.

Appearance

Zhunti first arrives at Zixiao Palace pale and disheveled. Qin Xuan's beating leaves him bald, with bumps on his head and blood and tears on his face 7 8.

Personality

Zhunti repeatedly favors persuasion, disguise, and opportunistic theft over direct confrontation. He helps Jieyin incite others to challenge the Ancestral Witches over the Innate Gourd Vine, then retreats; later, the brothers rob Kunlun Mountain in disguise and collaborate with Kunpeng to extract treasures from the Demon Court 11 51 201.

He shares Jieyin's goal of revitalizing the West but sometimes focuses on immediate gains. Jieyin convinces him to prioritize cultivation after Mount Sumeru's setbacks and later persuades him to look beyond the loss of Spirit Mountain toward Kunlun Mountain 132 306.
