Time ticked steadily by.
Not until dusk fell.
Did the Worships finally stop talking and leave the Worship Hall one after another.
Bai Wanwan walked beside Guangling as they headed toward her residence.
They entered Bai Wanwan's bedroom.
Guangling glanced around, shook his head in mild dissatisfaction, and sat down on a chair.
"Wanwan, why haven't you decorated the room Azure Luan arranged for you?"
"It's a little too plain."
"And you don't have a single book. What do you need two enormous bookshelves for?"
"Tomorrow, Grandpa will take you shopping in Spirit City. We'll buy a few things and have the maids decorate your room properly."
Guangling surveyed the room.
There was nothing wrong with it, but he still felt it was too plain. His granddaughter, whom he had doted on since she was little, did not need an extravagant bedroom, but it should not be so bare, either.
"Grandpa, I think it's nice as it is."
Bai Wanwan smiled unconcernedly. She poured Guangling a cup of tea, then sat down beside him. "Grandpa, do you remember what I told you in the courtyard three months ago?"
"Three months ago?"
Holding his teacup, Guangling thought back carefully. Suddenly, something came to mind.
"You mean when you said you could foresee the future?"
"I've been wondering about that lately, too. Was it just a coincidence, or do you really have the ability to foresee the future?"
Guangling took a sip of tea, his eyes growing deeply thoughtful.
His conversation with Bai Wanwan that day resurfaced in his mind.
Bai Wanwan had said she dreamed that His Holiness the Pope returned gravely injured. That very night, Pope Qian Xunji had not only returned gravely injured but died as well.
If he had taken Bai Wanwan's words seriously and made preparations, bringing Pope Qian Xunji to the Worship Hall upon his injured return instead of leaving him in the Papal Hall, then Qian Xunji might well have survived.
Seeing Guangling lost in thought, Bai Wanwan poured herself a cup of tea. She held it in her hands, seemingly slipping into recollection.
"Grandpa, a few nights ago, I had another dream. I dreamed that Saintess Bibi Dong became the Pope and proposed a plan-a plan that required the Young Master to sacrifice ten, or even twenty, years of her youth to go undercover in the Heaven Dou Empire."
Bai Wanwan cradled the steaming tea in her hands, her tone utterly serious.
At those words, Guangling rubbed at his ear and turned toward Bai Wanwan, his eyes full of disbelief.
"How could that be possible?"
"The Young Master is Spirit Hall's Young Master, with innate level 20 soul power. How could she possibly undertake some plan that would cost her ten or twenty years of her youth, going undercover in the Heaven Dou Empire?"
"That's absolutely impossible."
"Wanwan, have you ever heard of an empire's crown prince going undercover in another empire?"
"The Young Master may not be a crown prince, but her status is higher than any empire's crown prince. How could this possibly..."
Guangling spoke softly, but his gaze gradually grew thoughtful.
No matter how he looked at it, Bai Wanwan's story seemed implausible. Yet with what had happened to Qian Xunji, he could not quite make up his mind.
"I don't think it's very likely, either. But it's just something I saw in a dream."
Bai Wanwan took a sip of her hot tea, her tone relaxed.
She had said enough. There was no need to explain in greater detail or make Guangling believe her right away.
Once Bibi Dong brought it up, Guangling would naturally believe her.
Guangling nodded slightly and said nothing more, but his gaze slowly shifted toward the Papal Hall, uncertainty flickering in his eyes.
It would certainly be best if what Bai Wanwan had said was false. After all, it was only a dream, and there was no telling whether it was true.
But if it was true...
Guangling slowly withdrew his gaze. After exchanging a few more words with Bai Wanwan, he left her bedroom and headed back to his own residence.
After Guangling left, Bai Wanwan sat cross-legged on her bed and began her meditation practice.
The Papal Hall.
In the brightly lit study, Bibi Dong clasped her hands together and gazed quietly ahead, her thoughts unreadable.
An extremely detailed action plan lay before her.
A dark purple, scythe-like mark that radiated an evil aura silently appeared just above her brows.
As the mark flickered faintly, something seemed to whisper in her ear, making Bibi Dong's gaze gradually change. Soon, however, the mark vanished, and her eyes returned to normal.
She let out a soft breath.
Bibi Dong put the plan into her Storage Soul Tool, rose, and left the study, heading toward the Worship Hall.
The dim lights along the flagstone path stretched her shadow long.
But Bibi Dong did not enter the Worship Hall's main hall. Instead, she went to Qian Renxue's room and knocked on the door.
Soon, the door opened.
Under Qian Renxue's startled gaze, Bibi Dong entered the room.
The door closed again.
Only after roughly two hours did Bibi Dong emerge from Qian Renxue's room and head toward the Papal Hall.
Within a few blinks, Bibi Dong's figure disappeared into the distance, as though she had never been there.
Morning.
Bai Wanwan left her room early. Seeing Qian Renxue sitting by the window, her cheek resting in her hand as she quietly watched the horizon, looking as though she had not slept all night, Bai Wanwan immediately went over to greet her.
"Good morning, big sister."
Bai Wanwan came up to the window and smiled at Qian Renxue.
"Mm."
Qian Renxue nodded slightly without saying much, as though something was weighing on her mind.
"Big sister, what's wrong?"
Seeing Qian Renxue like this, Bai Wanwan asked softly.
"Nothing. I'm just thinking about a few things."
"The Second Worship should already be waiting for you. Wanwan, go see him for your daily training."
Qian Renxue forced a smile.
Although puzzled, Bai Wanwan could see that Qian Renxue did not want to say more. After a moment's thought, she asked no further questions and headed toward the Second Worship's residence.
Watching Bai Wanwan walk away.
Qian Renxue let out a long sigh, her eyes gradually filling with conflicting emotions, as though she were pondering something.
Meanwhile.
On her way to the Second Worship's residence, Bai Wanwan carefully recalled Qian Renxue's unusual behavior. Her instincts told her that something had to be behind it.
There was definitely something wrong with Qian Renxue's behavior.
A person could not change so suddenly for no reason. Something she did not know about must have happened.
