Background

The Xu and Yu families have been close since the generation of Xu Xiaoyan’s grandfather and Yu Zhen. Xiaoyan grew up beside Yu Nanyuan as his childhood sweetheart, while her parents also cared for him warmly. She was deeply worried during Yu Nanyuan’s coma following the typhoon. 2

Although she possesses Innate Full Soul Power, Xiaoyan initially resisted the path of a Soul Master. The Ten Thousand Year Frost Ice Sea Serpent’s attack left her fearful of real combat, and she voluntarily gave a soul bone intended for her to her brother, Xu Xiaoyu. Her family nevertheless recognized the potential of her rare Star Wheel Ice Staff Martial Soul. 21 27 56

Yu Nanyuan encouraged her to choose her own future rather than submit to family expectations. Later, while high above Wutong Mountain, she overcame her fear of heights and drew in starlight through a spatial rift.
