Abducting Kimiko

With a Superhero's speed and agility, Li Wei and Kimiko easily shook off the gawking pedestrians. Then Kimiko began struggling fiercely again.

She hadn't come here to save those two trafficked children. She had come for revenge, and she couldn't let this mysterious Superhero lead her around by the nose.

Even if he seemed full of goodwill, when she had first been trafficked, the two men she had just killed had also acted very friendly!

This time, Li Wei didn't keep gripping her. He merely spoke rapidly in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean to make it clear that he meant her no harm.

He wanted to help her escape pursuit by her enemies, so whatever she intended to do next, she should try to keep a low profile.

Then she could change clothes, eat something, and go do whatever she wanted to do.

Pretending to think it over, and considering that she hadn't said a word from the beginning until now, he took out a spare phone he had prepared in advance and opened the handwriting input method, translation app, and so on.

"If you don't want to speak, or can't speak conveniently, how about we communicate by phone?"

In order to win over this little mute, he had invested no small amount of effort. It had nearly matched what he'd put into Starlight. Hopefully, she would know how to repay kindness.

Moreover, Li Wei had an important problem to deal with. In the story, Kimiko suffered from selective mutism, yet his system required the other party's affirmative answer when attempting to copy abilities.

How was a mute supposed to answer? Sign language? Or nodding for yes and shaking her head for no?

But no matter what, he first needed to win her over before slowly conducting further experiments.

After hearing him out, Kimiko's expression changed again.

After thinking for a moment, she cautiously accepted the phone and typed out a long string of words.

Although some of the wording was inaccurate due to the translation software, Li Wei had seen the answers in advance, so naturally he understood what she meant.

First, her name was Kimiko. She was a Japanese girl who had later been kidnapped, her parents murdered, and she and her younger brother forced to join an extremist organization—The Flash—where they underwent a series of brutal training sessions.

Her fighting skills had been acquired through life-and-death battles at The Flash.

Later, she found a way to escape with her younger brother, but unfortunately, she had barely escaped the tiger's den before entering the wolf's lair.

She had been captured and sold by Snakehead working together with the two Old Blacks from earlier, then imprisoned in some basement for experiments, gaining several special abilities.

Now she wanted revenge: kill Snakehead, find her younger brother, and then go home!

When Li Wei finished reading the information and looked up, he saw Kimiko staring at him nervously, seemingly prepared to fight or flee at any moment.

Clearly, if Li Wei tried to stop her from taking revenge, she would never obey him, even though he had just helped her.

Li Wei couldn't help chuckling. "I won't stop you from getting revenge. If necessary, I'll even help you find your younger brother or something."

"But I hope you can finish your revenge as soon as possible and leave here quietly. Our current situation can't exactly be called safe. Deal?"

Looking at the fist he held out and recalling everything he had done since they met, Kimiko finally extended her fist. After all, things couldn't get any worse than they already were, could they?

So Kimiko changed clothes in the shadows, put on shoes, and found the Nail Salon under Li Wei's guidance.

At first, she walked in like an ordinary customer and didn't draw anyone's attention. Aside from serving as a front for human trafficking, the Nail Salon still had to keep up appearances.

Then Kimiko went upstairs and took down Snakehead in a few blows. Afterward, she didn't harm any innocents, and under Li Wei and Hughie's cover, she quickly escaped by car.

Although Hughie had been trembling at first—he had personally watched her kill two people from a distance earlier—thinking that there was a real Superhero in the car made him much less afraid. In its place came nothing but excitement.

Kimiko, however, frowned slightly. Given her nearly brutal fighting style, her new clothes had inevitably been stained with some blood again. She found that regrettable and felt a little apologetic.

Li Wei saw what she was thinking and chuckled. "Don't worry about that. We prepared some food for you. This portion is yours."

As he spoke, he pushed the Japanese food toward Kimiko and picked up the Chinese food himself.

As for the worst garbage among it, the kimchi, that naturally went to Hughie.

Though Hughie had run the errand, Li Wei had paid for all this. Hughie was lucky to have anything to eat at all.

In fact, Hughie was too excited to care about that. He only asked where they were driving next, since he still didn't know where they were going.

Naturally, Li Wei couldn't tell him. Once they reached the suburbs, he had Hughie drive off on his own.

If Hughie learned the exact address, that bastard Butcher would definitely follow the trail here and try to get hold of some of his weaknesses or something.

Li Wei wasn't afraid, but it would be troublesome. He didn't have that much time to play these games with him.

Besides, regarding the protagonist group, Li Wei had always believed that directly killing them was the lowest-level method. There was absolutely no need for that yet.

Then he looked at Kimiko, who had clearly become more alert after arriving in the wilderness and couldn't help looking around.

"Next, I'll have a friend take care of you. I told her your throat was injured and you need peace and quiet to recover."

"I need some time to investigate information about your younger brother."

"Our enemies are very powerful. For safety's sake, you'd better not go out. If you absolutely have to, make sure to disguise yourself and return as quickly as possible."

He had already called Firecracker. The house he had asked her to buy earlier was now coming in handy.

With Firecracker's abilities, taking care of Kimiko would be no problem at all.

And he wasn't particularly worried that Firecracker would betray him. For one thing, A-Train and Homelander would definitely keep this matter tightly under wraps and wouldn't want any unnecessary people learning about it.

For another, Firecracker had recently realized the benefits he could bring her. She would never give those up.

Finally, she had one virtue: she knew her own limits. She wouldn't excessively crave things beyond her capabilities.

Unless Homelander personally stood before her and told her to hand Kimiko over, promising that he, Homelander, would personally protect her, then even if she knew Kimiko's origins were suspicious, she wouldn't think of informing on her. She wasn't that stupid.

With a few more warnings from him, there shouldn't be any problems.

Of course, nothing was absolute. If, through a series of coincidences, she really handed Kimiko over, Li Wei would definitely be the first to kill a traitor like her.

Kimiko nodded silently. Soon, she ultimately couldn't hold back and typed on the phone, "Why are you helping me so much?"

Li Wei answered very seriously, "The power in your body came from experiments. So did mine. You can think of the people who experimented on you as my enemies."

"There is an old Chinese saying: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Can you understand it that way?"

Kimiko's eyes instantly widened, because he had said those words in extremely standard Chinese. He had to be Chinese-American!

Previously, because of his mask, she had only known that he might be Asian. But there were many countries in Asia, and the character of their people often varied enormously.

But if he was Chinese-American, combined with what he had done earlier, it greatly increased his credibility.

After thinking it over, Kimiko typed again. Besides expressing her gratitude, she added one more sentence this time.

If needed, she was willing to help as well. Her targets for revenge were not only Snakehead and the people who had sold her. The people who had experimented on her were included too!

Li Wei couldn't help smiling. Very good, this was an excellent beginning. As long as she wasn't an ungrateful person, he would win her over sooner or later!
