Background / History
Ancient records describe an earlier Blood Fiend Cult as a major demonic power that once rivaled the Flowing Cloud Sect. Its adherents cultivated Fresh Blood and Sha Qi, slaughtered settlements, and used the essence blood and souls of living beings for wicked arts. The Flowing Cloud Sect and several Chu Kingdom sects eventually destroyed its main force, executed its leader and core elders, and scattered the survivors into the Far North at immense cost 7.
A Blood Fiend Cult later re-emerged in the northern mountains roughly three to four centuries before the present events. It established itself across the Ten Thousand Miasma Mountain Range and broad northern territories, creating a prolonged north–south standoff with the Flowing Cloud Sect. Repeated wars between the two factions failed to eliminate either side completely 40.
The cult’s renewed southern activity became apparent through massacres near Qingshi Market, including the annihilation of Black Mountain Hollow, where victims were found drained of blood. The threat prompted increased Flowing Cloud Sect patrols and heightened security throughout nearby markets 7.
Methods & Cultivation Arts
Blood Fiend Cultivation
The cult’s techniques draw on blood, Sha Qi, ghosts, corpses, souls, and sacrificial rites. Its cultivators are repeatedly associated with blood draining, soul refinement, corpse and ghost control, and blood sacrifice methods 7 40.
- Blood Fiend Demonic Art — The cult’s core cultivation technique, recorded alongside arts such as the Blood Fiend Great Hand Seal, Blood Shadow Clone, and Blood Prison Cage 109.
- Blood sacrifice — Cultivators may use essence blood or living sacrifices to forcefully raise their cultivation, though such methods can cause severe backlash 50 51.
- Soul and spiritual-energy corrosion — Cult techniques and tools can disrupt divine sense, corrode protective spiritual light, defile magic tools, or interfere with spiritual-energy circulation 96 153 182.
- Blood Fiend secret arts — Known arts include Blood Fiend Soul Erosion Finger, Blood Fiend Soul Chasing Claw, Blood Fiend Spirit Corroding Mist, Nine Nether Steps, and the Nine Nether Blood Fiend Domain 103 229 250.
Formations and Talismans
The cult employs formations intended for siege warfare, entrapment, and large-scale slaughter.
- Blood Infant Myriad Fiends Great Array — A protective formation powered by newborns’ vital blood, resentful souls, and fierce spirits; when fully activated, it can temporarily resist early Nascent Soul attacks 240.
- Formation Breaking Talisman — Meng Fengmo used a top-tier third-rank talisman to tear open Black Cloud Market’s grand formation 213.
- Blood Fiend Yin Thunder World-Breaking Talisman — A talisman refined with underground Yin Sha energy and cultivators’ vital blood, capable of releasing soul-corroding Yin Thunder equivalent to a late Foundation Establishment strike 182.

Conflict with the Righteous Path Alliance
The Blood Fiend Cult’s primary enemy was the Flowing Cloud Sect and its Righteous Path Alliance. Their border wars centered on resources, land, and Dao lineage, while the cult sought to undermine the sect through direct attacks, infiltration, recruitment of affiliated families, and massacres meant to intimidate opposition 40 151 318.
During the Cloud Fiend Secret Realm expedition, cult and righteous cultivators entered the realm under open hostility. Blood Fiend disciples attacked competitors for Foundation Establishment resources, set ambushes at chokepoints, and targeted weaker opponents with coordinated techniques 84 96 100.
The cult later besieged Black Cloud Market with five Golden Core cultivators, more than five hundred Foundation Establishment cultivators, and over three thousand five hundred Qi Refining cultivators. Meng Fengmo’s Formation Breaking Talisman breached the market’s defenses, allowing the cult’s forces to enter 212 213.
Downfall
Following the battle at Black Cloud Market, six Golden Core cultivators of the Flowing Cloud Sect and its allies counterattacked into Blood Fiend territory. Withered Bone Market was overrun, while affiliated forces, markets, and resource points were systematically plundered or destroyed 221 223.
Despite this setback, the cult retained four Golden Core leaders at Ten Thousand Skeletons Mountain: Meng Yaofan, Meng Fengmo, Li Xietu, and Ghost Face Granny. Li Chengjie resolved to remove them before attempting Nascent Soul formation, considering the cult the last major threat capable of disrupting his seclusion 478.
At Ten Thousand Skeletons Mountain, Meng Yaofan activated the Blood Infant Myriad Fiends Great Array and joined the other three Golden Cores against Li Chengjie. Li Chengjie defeated Li Xietu, Meng Fengmo, and Ghost Face Granny within three breaths, then killed Meng Yaofan. With all four leaders dead, the Blood Fiend Demonic Array collapsed and the Blood Fiend Cult came to an end 481 482.
