Gao Chen was raised with the Monster Hunting Guild as his childhood home, and his family had pursued the Golden Core realm for three generations without success. He was already the guild's leader when Li Chengjie and dozens of disguised disciples arrived at Azure Wave Market intending to settle there. Concerned that the newcomers could disrupt the market's established order, Gao Chen personally investigated their intentions and summoned the guild's Guest Elder, Liu Wenbo, for support. 326 327 402

After Li Chengjie defeated Liu Wenbo, Gao Chen adapted to the new balance of power by inviting Li to become the Monster Hunting Guild's Grand Elder.
