In the laboratory, Isaac's fair fingers tapped lightly against the parchment as his gaze moved between the three plans. He was considering which order to tackle them in.
First, one thing was certain: he almost certainly would not complete the Boundless Tower's trial mission, so he would spend some time consolidating his foundations at the Fourth Tier.
That would not make much difference. After all, tiers were not especially important to wizards, particularly Mad Witches. A tremendous obstacle awaited them at the Sixth Tier—Outer Gods!
Wizards could earn the title of demigod at the fifth tier, but that actually meant fighting above their tier. The Sixth Tier was the true domain of gods.
Once they reached the Sixth Tier, the Legendary Gate's protection of Mad Witches would also fall away. They would then face every Outer God they had ever traded with. Grievances would be settled, vengeance would be taken, and they could slaughter to their hearts' content!
Even hiding in the Real World, where divine power could not be fully unleashed, would do no good. Unless they dealt with those gods, the Outer Gods' whispers would constantly linger in their ears. One or two might have no effect, but once their numbers grew, even if they could not inflict actual harm, they would severely impair research efficiency.
For a wizard, being unable to get into the right frame of mind for research was the nightmare of nightmares!
That was why, after reaching the Fourth Tier, Mad Witches would reduce the frequency of their transactions to lessen the obstacles awaiting them at the Sixth Tier, even if they had already mastered their own traits and could trade reliably with Outer Gods.
This was also one of the main reasons modern Mad Witches had gradually shifted from stealing to legitimate transactions.
