Just as Kraft's consciousness was about to fade, Angela's voice suddenly rang in his ears, jolting him awake.
"What just happened?!"
"Your soul was attacked, Brother," Angela explained, still shaken. "If I hadn't left a mark inside your body with the Soul Stone, you would have died!"
Ever since learning of Mephisto's existence, Angela had been working hard to master the Soul Stone. The moment she gained control of it, she marked the souls of Kraft, Alice, and the others. If anyone tampered with their souls, Angela would sense it instantly.
It was only thanks to Angela's precaution that Kraft hadn't met his end through a careless mistake.
"Thank goodness you were here, Angela..."
Kraft was shaken too. He had come dangerously close to getting himself killed. And, probably because the power of death also affected the Bio-Armor, the Dream Armor's automatic combat function had actually stopped working.
But that malfunction had also saved him. Had Hela landed a few more sword strikes, Kraft probably wouldn't have survived long enough for Angela to rescue him.
Things had been going too smoothly lately, and he had gotten cocky. Faced with the mystical side of things, a field he knew little about, Kraft hadn't taken it seriously enough.
