I've Seen This Episode!

Peter had seemed off to Kraft ever since he'd approached him proactively. After a quick glance, Kraft felt something was strange, though he couldn't quite place it. He'd scrutinized Peter from head to toe for a long time before finally pinpointing the source of his unease—Peter Parker's old-fashioned glasses were gone.

"Oh, these!" Peter casually touched his bare nose bridge. "You know, I made a friend this semester? His father is the chairman of the Osborn Group, and they have a research project on curing myopia that needs volunteers, so I participated. I got cured by accident."

"Oh? Weren't you afraid of accidentally going blind?"

Kraft knew the friend Peter was talking about. He'd met him a few times; Harry Osborn, a rich kid with a decent personality.

Still, Peter Parker was too bold, casually joining such an unproven and unperfected experiment without fear of anything going wrong. If he'd always had this kind of courage, Kraft wouldn't have looked down on him so much.

While it was just a correction for myopia and not exactly human experimentation, Kraft still disliked such things.

"This research was already in its final stages, so safety was guaranteed. Even if it failed, it wouldn't cause any harm to the participants. I was lucky to get in thanks to Harry."

Peter offered a couple of explanations, then slapped his forehead as if remembering something.

"I have to go help over there. Let's chat again sometime."

With that, he slipped away.

I still feel like that guy is hiding something from me…

Peter seemed much more confident than before. Did curing myopia also fix psychological issues?

Kraft shook his head, not particularly bothered.

Maybe he finally managed to get together with Mary Jane?

Recalling Peter's usual timid demeanor, Kraft chuckled and shook his head.

"As if…"

"Phew… I almost let Kraft notice something was wrong…"

After slipping away, Peter Parker walked to a secluded corner and let out a long sigh. He then annoyedly smacked his own head.

"Tch! So spineless! Why am I so afraid of that kid Kraft!"

The whole thing about the Osborn Group's myopia research was, of course, a lie. However, it wasn't entirely unrelated. His myopia had disappeared after being bitten by a spider during a visit to the Osborn Group's product expo.

Along with it came greatly enhanced physique, a miraculous danger sense, and the ability to walk freely on walls…

Just like a spider.

Peter Parker, who had only had these peculiar abilities for two days, had not only taught Flash Thompson, who had always bullied him at school, a lesson, but his relationship with Mary Jane had also made significant progress, which instantly boosted his confidence.

He was so confident that he dared to approach and provoke Kraft today. Unfortunately, Kraft's long-standing aura of authority was too strong, and he didn't bully Peter like Thompson did with brute force. Not to mention, he had Aunt May backing him up. So, Peter Parker, who had rushed forward in a fit of impulsiveness, quickly calmed down after Kraft casually glanced at him and decisively backed down and fled.

However, after backing down and fleeing, Peter Parker felt a bit ashamed. He already possessed special abilities, so how could he be so easily bullied by a kid four or five years younger than him?

Peter Parker felt he needed to regain his dignity as an older brother.

"Woof?"

A dog's bark startled Peter Parker, who was cheering himself on. He lowered his head and saw a dopey-looking yellow Shiba Inu tilting its head and looking at him.

"Oh, Quinn, good boy, why are you here?"

This dog, with its incredibly comical appearance and remarkable intelligence, had recently become the star mascot at the shelter, and Peter was very fond of him. He crouched down, rubbed Quinn's head, and affectionately nudged his black nose with his own.

I never expected Kraft to be able to raise such a well-behaved dog. No! This must all be Alice's credit. That brat wouldn't have the patience to train a dog!

Peter Parker thought enviously and jealously as he played with Quinn.

"Big Brother! Peter Parker is hiding something from you!"

Upon returning home, Quinn, wearing his red scarf, immediately went to Kraft to tattle.

"Oh? What is it?"

Kraft asked absentmindedly while helping Alice, who was cooking. He wasn't particularly curious about Peter's secret, but if he could use it as leverage to tease him later, that would be great.

"I don't know, he didn't say," Quinn wagged his tail, weaving around Kraft's feet. "He just said he almost got caught by you, and then he kept rubbing my face."

"Oh, I see…" Kraft placed the cut potatoes onto a plate, shook the water off his hands, and reached out to pat Quinn's head. "Good job. I'll give you an extra meat bone later."

This stupid dog was being so solicitous to show off, all he wanted was a reward. Kraft had already intended to reward Quinn, who had helped at the shelter together today, so he just gave him the reward he was already going to receive.

"Yay! Thanks, Big Brother!"

Quinn, unaware he'd been tricked, wagged his tail happily and ran out of the kitchen to show off to Bea.

Soon, the sound of his bickering with the little black cat could be heard from the living room.

Kraft was already used to it.

After these two little ones had caused trouble a few times and Kraft had severely disciplined them, their interactions were now mostly limited to arguments. Occasionally, Bea would swat Quinn a couple of times out of impatience before hiding in a high place, leaving the defeated dog to bark below.

"It smells so good," after a while, Martin's head suddenly appeared at the kitchen doorway. He glanced inside with a smile and praised, "I haven't eaten yet, and my mouth is watering. Alice's cooking is getting better and better."

Even though he knew Alice was just a robot, this robot was truly thoughtful and sensible, far surpassing that brat Kraft. Therefore, Martin Lee quickly accepted her as a member of the family.

After dinner, Kraft, who had a busy day at the shelter, didn't plan to return to the lab to continue working. The family sat in front of the television, chatting and passing the evening watching somewhat boring TV programs before heading to their respective rooms to sleep.

And Kraft, for the first time in a long time, had a dream.

The futuristic scene filled Kraft with joy, but what he saw next as the protagonist of the dream left him dumbfounded.

Kraft could say he went through the entire dream with his mind in chaos. When he sat up in bed, he still had a stunned expression on his face.

I much prefer the comic book setting where it's "because his name is Peter Parker, he became Spider-Man." The movie version's setting is just a crazy smear on Peter Parker's parents.

I'm mainly talking about the Garfield version. The spiders were cultivated with Osborn's investment, and even his web-shooters were originally Osborn products. Later, when Harry asked Peter for help, Peter refused out of fear of danger…

I'm completely bewildered… the guy was practically dying…

I don't have much of an impression of Garfield's Spider-Man, but I have a very deep impression of Osborn… because he was just too tragic!

So tragic that I couldn't help but want to shout: Go for it! Big brother on the skateboard!
