Background / History
Tang San originated from another world and had been a disciple of the Ba Shu Tang Sect before arriving in Douluo Continent. His Tang Sect background gave him unusually sharp danger perception, secret arts, and knowledge of Hidden Weapons. 94 196
He cultivated with the Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul, whose properties changed through successive soul-ring absorptions. A Mandala Snake soul ring increased its toughness and granted venom, while later Man Faced Demon Spider and Crypt Demon Spider rings further elevated it toward a top-tier plant Martial Soul. 24
At Shrek Academy, Tang San became Yu Xiaogang's prized disciple and a central member of the Shrek Seven Devils. He lost a sparring match to Zhu Zhuqing after failing to anticipate her Third Soul Skill, but regained confidence after Yu Xiaogang stressed the importance of understanding an opponent's abilities. 105 107
During the Continental Elite Soul Master Academy Tournament, Tang San defeated five Barak Academy opponents in succession. After learning that the championship reward included three Soul Bones, he risked adding four Ten Thousand-Year Soul Rings to his Clear Sky Hammer, raising his Soul Power to the peak of Rank 48. 144 145
At the Finals in Spirit City, he unveiled the Clear Sky Hammer and its four black Soul Rings through the Seven-in-One Fusion Skill. He fought Spirit Hall Academy but was severely injured by Long Yun, who shattered his Eight Spider Lances and exposed Xiao Wu as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast. 159 162
Tang Hao revealed himself to protect Tang San and escaped Spirit City with him. Tang Hao was later killed after detonating his Eighth and Ninth Soul Rings against Du Busi; Tang San subsequently entered Slaughter City in despair over his father's death and Xiao Wu's fate. 165 168 173
Within Slaughter City, Tang San recovered from near-fatal injuries by draining the blood of other people. His slaughter and rapid growth earned the Slaughter King's favor, who made him his successor and supplied him with Scarlet Mary for cultivation. 188
Tang San accumulated forty-two consecutive victories in the Hell Slaughter Arena before facing Long Yun. Their battle escalated through Tang San's bat-like transformation and blood-based techniques, but Long Yun ultimately incapacitated him. The Slaughter King intervened, yet Long Chen later killed Tang San amid the ensuing confrontation with Slaughter City's Enshrinements. 188 192 195 200
Appearance
Tang San initially appeared as a youth in fitted blue clothing, with an unassuming appearance, unusually spirited eyes, and a mild smile that concealed a far more dangerous nature. 94
- Blue Silver Grass form — Blue-purple Blue Silver Grass and three visible Soul Rings during his match with Zhu Zhuqing. 106
- Clear Sky Hammer form — Wields a massive black hammer covered in strange patterns and accompanied by four black Soul Rings. 159
- Evil Soul Master form — Develops dark-red bat wings lined with hooks, elongated claws, fangs, scarlet eyes, and fine blood-red fur. 192
- Bloodied battle state — His transformed body can rapidly regenerate injuries, including damaged wings. 194
Personality
Tang San is observant, cautious, and difficult to surprise in combat. His Tang Sect training gives him an unusually keen sense of danger; he immediately recognized Long Yun as a potentially life-threatening opponent during their first meeting. 71 94
He is ambitious and resolute, accepting the danger of placing four Ten Thousand-Year Soul Rings on his Clear Sky Hammer in pursuit of the tournament's Soul Bones. He also carries intense hatred toward Spirit Hall after learning of its conflict with his parents and seeks its eventual destruction. 145 157
After entering Slaughter City, Tang San becomes increasingly violent, ruthless, and bloodthirsty. He treats enemies as prey, seeks to drain their blood, and allows his hatred of Long Yun to cloud his judgment during their final battle. 188 191 195
