Hashirama Senju's Ultimate Genjutsu! "Genjutsu: Konohagakure" VS Infinite Tsukuyomi
"That's too cruel!"
Sakura Haruno lowered her head and muttered to herself. Most of the others fell silent after coming back to their senses, making her all the more conspicuous among the Konoha 11 as she stood there looking utterly lost and talking to herself.
Daren Yi smiled at the pink-haired little girl. In the early part of the original story, this kid's mentality had been fairly fragile too, but that was precisely what made her feel more real.
Normal people were all like that! Naruto's resilience was absurd, while Sasuke, with Uchiha blood running through his veins, obviously couldn't be considered normal either...
"The Land of Fire is the most prosperous and wealthy great nation in the entire Shinobi World. And in this world, where power determines everything, Konohagakure is essentially the core of the entire Land of Fire.
"And among all of Konohagakure's younger generation, you are the most central group. After graduating, every one of you will be assigned a Jonin instructor.
"So decades from now, what kind of lives the people of the Land of Fire will lead, whether their children will once again be stuffed into these giant jars...
"...will depend on what kind of people you become!"
He raised a finger and tapped on the outer wall of a glass jar containing a young child test subject. The dull, muffled sound echoed through the silent base.
Daren Yi turned back and gave them a malicious grin, as though he were waiting to see which one of them would become the next Shimura Danzō.
"I would never! None of us ever could!"
Kiba Inuzuka took a frightened step back at Daren Yi's malicious smile, then flushed red and shouted excitedly.
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
For once, the chubby Choji Akimichi put away his snacks, his words firm and resolute.
Shino Aburame, who always stood in the corner of the crowd, seemed to wipe a tear from the corner of his eye under the guise of adjusting his sunglasses. Without saying a word, he nodded fiercely.
The blonde little girl Ino Yamanaka rolled her eyes at Daren Yi's sick sense of humor, then glared back at him and muttered, "What kind of stupid question is that? How could that be possible?!"
This time, however, Shikamaru Nara remained silent.
"How could it be impossible? When Tobirama Senju took the young Hiruzen Sarutobi, Shimura Danzō, and the others as his disciples, he surely never imagined they would turn out like this."
After saying that, Daren Yi felt that perhaps that was not necessarily true. Tobirama Senju's hands did not seem entirely clean when it came to human experimentation either. He just was not as deranged as Danzō, perhaps?
Or rather, in the cruel and bloody Warring States Period, perhaps this had simply been the normal way to survive?
Only through Hashirama Senju's efforts had a small group of lucky people temporarily escaped the jungle law of the strong devouring the weak and lived inside an artificially created "greenhouse."
For a moment, Daren Yi seemed to gain a deeper understanding of the ideals Hashirama Senju had pursued back then, as well as the pain he had felt upon realizing that even he was powerless to achieve them.
So he had poured everything into creating a "false peace" greenhouse, scattering more "seeds" within it.
He hoped those "seeds" would grow amid peace, and that once they sprouted and blossomed, they too would pursue peace with the same unwavering determination he had possessed?
Because he had realized that he could not do it alone, he wanted to cultivate more people like himself in the "greenhouse" of Konohagakure that he had created?
Because he had despairingly realized that he was destined to never achieve true peace, he placed his hopes in the future?
If he understood it that way, then...
Konohagakure's "false peace" was the ultimate "genjutsu" Hashirama Senju had left for future generations?
Children raised within that "genjutsu" would treat the "false peace" Hashirama had desperately created as reality, and regard the original world as false.
Then, through the efforts of generation after generation, they would slowly turn that "false peace," bit by bit, into real peace!
By the time his thoughts had wandered this far, even Daren Yi felt that it was absurd.
What kind of "forging the false into reality" was this?
What kind of AIM Field was this? Using one's own "personal reality" to replace normal reality?
Using one's own will to alter the rules by which the world operated?
So the ultimate genjutsu of the Naruto World was actually called "Konohagakure"!
Compared to "Genjutsu: Konohagakure," Infinite Tsukuyomi was complete trash!
Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju had loved and fought each other their entire lives, and Madara had lost his entire life too. And in the end...
In the realm of "genjutsu," Madara had ultimately lost to Hashirama once again!
Looking at the Konoha 11 before him, all of them clenching their fists with reddened eyes, Daren Yi suddenly understood Hashirama Senju's pursuit a little better.
During the Warring States Period, everyone had regarded the strong devouring the weak, slaughter, and bloodshed as only natural and right. Instead, they had thought he was incomprehensible, that there was something wrong with his head.
Only Madara Uchiha, an outsider from another clan, had been able to understand his ideals. Yet they had ultimately gone their separate ways, leaving Hashirama alone to persist in his ideals.
And now, no matter how bloody and horrifying the true darkness hidden underground might be, at least under the sunlight, in the normal world above ground...
People had already begun to see peace as something natural and self-evident.
Young people who pursued peace would no longer be regarded as freaks. They would have many, many companions and supporters...
The human world...
Was corrected bit by bit in this way.
It moved slowly forward, step by step!
"Good, that's the spirit! I hope that in the future, you won't forget the resolve you have at this very moment!"
Daren Yi walked over and reassuringly patted the little ones on their heads.
"Sir, the handover has been completed."
At that moment, the Hyuga Branch Family jonin leading the team came over to report and handed him a list.
Daren Yi opened it and gave it a cursory look before instructing him, "Hand over all the Hashirama cells and Sharingan preserved by Root to Izumi Uchiha for safekeeping.
"As for the test subjects and reserve test subjects, do everything possible to save them. Their subsequent arrangements can be discussed at the next full Jonin Meeting.
"For those test subjects listed here who truly cannot be saved, whose bodies and minds have already collapsed, end their suffering sooner rather than later!
"Remember to notify the personnel handling the follow-up: under no circumstances are they to skimp on treatment costs or compensation for the test subjects.
"Send the medical bills and compensation bills to the Sarutobi Clan, Shimura Clan, Taneshiki Clan, and Mitokado Family afterward. Make them pay!"
"Yes!"
The middle-aged Hyuga Branch Family jonin answered especially loudly. Even a smile appeared on his usually expressionless face, as though he had thought of something delightful.
He eagerly turned around, preparing to discuss with the Medical Ninjas in the team whether they could raise the medical expenses a little more.
"Let's go back and see how Naruto's side is handling things."
A short while later, Izumi Uchiha took the sorted Sealing Scroll. Daren Yi led the way toward the Hokage Building, with the little ones following closely behind him.
This time, unlike when they had arrived, the eyes of the Konoha 11 were filled with killing intent!
With this chapter, I pay tribute to the countless predecessors throughout human history.
It was precisely through their efforts and sacrifices over the long years that artificial concepts such as "morality," the "Ideal of Peace," and the "Great Unity World" were gradually embedded into the rules governing the world.
Human morality did not exist from birth.
Rather, countless people had jointly sustained a colossal, ultimate "genjutsu" that transcended the concepts of time and place, encompassing the river of ages and the human world.
And one day, fantasy would become reality!
"I believe humanity's courage can transcend time, every chapter of history, the present, and the future; I believe our people will surely complete their mission, regardless of what is real or false, regardless of survival or death; I believe we will see blue skies again, with flowers covering every branch."
